Warehouse Supervisor

Primary Purpose:

Reporting to the Branch Manager, and working closely with the Rental Manager, the Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for the daily operation of the Branch warehouse and equipment yard. Primary responsibility is to ensure proper delivery and return of equipment and supplies.

Essential Functions include the following

• Work with the Rental Manager to set up and fulfill the delivery and pick up schedule. Ensure all equipment scheduled to be delivered is prepped and ready for loading at the appropriate time.
• When equipment is returned ensure that it is promptly and properly unloaded and staged. If equipment is in need of repair or service, make sure the Service Department is notified of its return and where it is staged.
• Oversee and manage the inter-branch transfer process. Make sure all paperwork is properly completed and the information matches the equipment to be transferred.
• When receiving equipment from other branches ensure the equipment matches the paperwork. Inspect incoming equipment for damage. Contact other Branch locations to follow-up and resolve problems with transfer(s).
• Oversee all shipping and receiving activities for Branch. Verify contents of equipment, supplies and packages both sent and received, process paperwork, deliver packages to other departments on a timely basis.
• Organize and maintain warehouse and yard facilities. Document locations of equipment and supplies.
• Make sure location information is up-to-date.
• Oversee the cycle count process for warehouse and yard. Work with Rental Manager and Branch Manager to reconcile counts and resolve problems as needed.
• Conduct operator training classes on lift equipment for customers who rent or buy equipment.
• Supervise warehouse/yard employees.
• Make sure all facilities are clean, organized and comply with OSHA regulations. Ensure all employees are using assigned PPE and working in a safe manner at all times.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Directly supervises Branch warehouse and yard employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include hiring; training; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Requirements

Required Experience / Education – The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required for this position.

Education/Experience:

High school degree required. Prior experience working in an equipment warehouse/staging yard required.

Experience working with warehousing locator systems, shipping and receiving paperwork, and inventory control necessary.

Language Skills:

Ability to read and understand written directions and procedures. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers. Ability to effectively communicate with managers and other employees.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide and work with common fractions and decimals to figure items such as discounts.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts. Ability to interpret and follow instructions, solve problems involving concrete variables within well-defined situations.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to sit, hear, talk, stand, walk, climb, stoop and bend; use hands to finger, handle and feel. The employee is frequently required to use hands and arms to reach, lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Specific vision requirements include close and distance vision, depth perception, peripheral vision and ability to distinguish colors.

The work environment is that of a typical warehouse and equipment staging yard. Exposure to cold, heat, noise, fumes and dust.

Other:

Ability to use word processing and spreadsheet software, able to multi task efficiently. Demonstrated customer service skills.
