About this role:  

This role creates thought-leading research at the intersection between marketing strategy and technology for clients in senior marketing roles.  Specifically, this role will create research and advise clients on how to address mission-critical client priorities through the management, organization, and implementation of Marketing Technology solutions in contexts relevant to client strategy, people, and organizational maturity.    

  

Analysts are a source of breakthroughs and unique insight on urgent CMO challenges and long-sought clarity in the optimization of shared client responsibilities. A successful approach to this role begins with an understanding of our client’s strategic imperatives and then supports the identification and application of specific solutions including but not restricted to technology such as Demand Generation, Lead Management, Journey Orchestration, ABM (Account-Based-Marketing) and other areas of client need across all industries.   

What you’ll do: 

As a Gartner analyst, you will meet with clients daily: on the phone, in a video conference, and occasionally from the stage at a Gartner event. In every interaction, analysts help clients solve difficult puzzles that lead to better performance. To support these conversations you will research markets, practices, and trends and deliver high-quality actionable advice through a variety of media.  Specifically, you will:  

  • Conduct research and analysis in targeted areas of expertise that address the client's key initiatives.  

  • Author high-quality, objective, and actionable research including written documents and presentations, visualizations, videos, and interactive features. 

  • Interact with clients in daily advisory conversations and create supporting materials as needed for delivery in person, via teleconference, video conference, written formats, and occasional live meetings.   

  • Present research findings and recommendations in compelling formats tailored for large-scale live events, webinars, and private client team audiences.   

  • Work collaboratively as part of a globally distributed team of analysts, advisors, researchers, and data science professionals.  

  • Stay ahead of the curve on developments and issues within applicable terrains and serve as an authoritative source of the client's voice in the planning and delivery of research across all relevant areas of Gartner.  

  • Maintain Gartner’s industry leadership reputation by responding to press inquiries and other thought leadership opportunities in collaboration with professional partners in Marketing, PR, etc. 

  • Proactively work with the wider sales and service organizations to support client retention and business growth goals.   

What you’ll need: 

 It helps to be obsessed with your topic! Gartner analysts are correctly viewed as THE experts. This means you need to know primarily our clients’ strategic imperatives challenges and bring strong hypotheses for how to solve them.  In addition, you will maintain expertise in your markets, relevant vendors, key trends, and management best practices, and thus, in short, be able to see the forest and the trees. Specific elements of this role will include: 

  • 12+ years of relevant field or industry experience, with a minimum of 6 years in a Marketing and/or Marketing Technology leadership or senior advisory role. 

  • Bachelor's or equivalent experience, Master's degree preferred 

  • A deep connection with the strategic priorities of modern CMOs and the potential for people, processes, and technology to augment management best practices and accelerate outcomes. 

  • A clear, demonstrable understanding of the Marketing technology landscape for CMOs to select, implement, and integrate solutions that orchestrate and optimize multichannel customer experiences, including areas such as marketing cloud/ campaign management, digital asset management, multichannel marketing hubs, mobile marketing platforms, personalization engines, customer data platforms, and customer journey analytics. 

  • Expertise in leveraging emerging technologies such as machine learning, AI, decision-making analytics, real-time decision-making, conversational agents, augmented analytics, and consent/preference management to achieve transformative business outcomes. 

  • The ability to help CMOs understand technology overlaps or gaps, rationalize from multiple systems to one, budget for marketing technology options, evaluate ROI, and maintain culture-friendly marketing technology tactics.
