Veterinary Assistant Position at VCA Redmond

Salary Range: $20 to $25 per hour DOE

Job Description: As a Veterinary Assistant at VCA Redmond, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional care to our patients and support to our veterinary team. Your responsibilities will include assisting with medical procedures, handling patient records, and ensuring a clean and welcoming environment for both pets and their owners.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians during exams, surgeries, and other medical procedures.
• Perform routine tasks such as taking vital signs, administering medications, and collecting samples.
• Prepare and maintain examination rooms, ensuring they are clean and well-stocked.
• Manage patient records and update information as needed.
• Communicate with pet owners about treatment plans, medications, and follow-up care.
• Provide compassionate care and comfort to pets and their owners.
• Assist with the intake and discharge of patients, including handling and restraining animals as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization in the clinic, including sterilization of equipment.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s degree or certification in veterinary technology is a plus).
• Previous experience as a Veterinary Assistant or in a similar role is preferred.
• Basic knowledge of animal anatomy, medical terminology, and common veterinary procedures.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to handle animals with care and compassion.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work well in a team and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Flexibility to work some evenings or weekends, if necessary.
