Your Specific Responsibilities:

The Division of Medical Quality Assurance regulates health care practitioners and facilities through timely professional licensure, facility permitting, and administrative enforcement to preserve the health, safety, and welfare of the public. As a Legislative Coordinator within the Director’s Office, you are tasked with directing complex, division-wide activities, such as legislative, correspondence, and administrative duties as well as board member appointments and internal and external customer service.

In this position, you will grow and sustain viable, productive relationships with key stakeholders to assure coordination in meeting legislative goals and sharing information. As the principal staff and liaison for the Division’s legislative activities, you will handle administrative matters independently, expeditiously, and confidentially when serving in various meetings and committees to reflect the interests of the Division. Engagements include serving as a liaison with the Office of Legislative Planning for board member appointments and in other capacities with the executive staff of the State Surgeon General and various state agencies. You will monitor legislative meetings online and administer, train, and assist users of the Legislative Tracking System.

You will analyze, review, assign, summarize, and track bill movements and recent or pending legislation and provide recommendations on policy issues of interest affecting current operations and long-range planning, such as the trend of licensure compacts across the nation. You will also be responsible for facilitating the annual board member minority report, board member financial disclosure requirements, and other reports as needed. As such, you are capable of producing concise, organized, and error-free work that exudes great attention to detail and satisfies the needs of stakeholders.

You are a skilled orator who can effortlessly interchange between the organizational big picture and operational projects as needed, explaining to others how the legislative process unfolds and how an enrolled bill will impact business processes. You will clearly communicate activities by selecting effective communication channels to keep stakeholders informed, including maintaining the Director’s legislative calendar using diagramming applications like Visio and using PowerPoint applications to deliver legislative presentations to the Executive Management Team. You will mobilize cross-divisional and interagency teams to contribute toward a common goal or project, such as the development of legislative implementation plans, legislative proposals, draft amendments, and bill summaries. You are an organized professional who can leverage project and task management software, tracking systems, and databases to increase productivity, information sharing, and compliance with laws, regulations, and policies.

As a public servant and team player, you can enthusiastically contribute to the mission of the organization while enhancing the capacity of the Division’s key support functions.
