Job Description

AECOM’s Water Business Line is seeking a talented Senior Water-Wastewater Engineer with a passion for water, wastewater conveyance, treatment plant evaluation, design, and construction.  The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate an established career serving as a client-facing project manager on regional and municipal water and wastewater treatment projects. This position offers a unique opportunity to immediately contribute to an established and successful water practice in the Greater Philadelphia Area (Philadelphia, PA, Conshohocken, PA or Newark, DE) working on a diverse range of technically challenging water projects.   

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: 

  • Provide technical leadership on complex civil design projects from the planning through permitting and construction phases. 
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and design staff. 
  • Work with mid-level staff and lead multi-discipline project design teams virtually and locally. 
  • Interface with client and regulatory agencies.  
  • Manage civil and stormwater design and resiliency projects. 
  • Coordinate projects with civil design and modeling teams. 
  • Design pipe conveyance and modeling of collection systems. 
  • Develop and review design and construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates. 
  • Oversee and prepare engineering reports and documentation. 
  • Prepare engineering services proposals, fee estimates, and schedules.  
  • Stay current on industry trends and advancements in design and engineering. 
  • The selected candidate must be available to work in Philadelphia, PA, Conshohocken, PA or Newark, DE office on a scheduled basis. 

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering + 6 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education with an emphasis in water, wastewater, or another related field. 
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in PA, NJ, DE or ability to obtain within 6 months. 
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License and as a condition of employment, must pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records Review. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years of extensive project experience in municipal water, wastewater, and/or stormwater design, analysis, installation, inspection, and management in design within dense urban settings. 
  • Strong knowledge of water/wastewater/stormwater design codes, standards, and regulations. 
  • Strong communication skills in coordinating with clients, sub-consultants, regulatory agencies, and members of the public to accomplish assigned objectives. 
  • Must have excellent organizational skills and be able to work well in a team environment. 
  • Make decisions independently on engineering problems and methods. 
  • Experienced technical writer. 
  • Demonstrated experience developing engineering deliverables such as engineering reports, design drawings, technical specifications, and other detailed engineering deliverables. 
  • Proven and demonstrated experience working on storm water, water, wastewater, or flood protection/resilience projects.
