Job Purpose
Dana Corporation is seeking to fill the position of a Manager of Advanced Powertrain & EV Systems Application Engineering to lead a team of advanced powertrain Application Engineers and EV Systems Applications Engineers committed to implementing Dana’s growing portfolio of Commercial Vehicle Electrified Powertrain Solutions and EV Systems into customer applications. The position will be located at Dana’s World Headquarters in Maumee, OH but will require domestic and international travel to support customer programs and needs, product integration, & key program launches. The Manager of CV Advanced Powertrain & EV Systems Applications Engineering is responsible for all CV Advanced Powertrain Application Engineers, EV systems Applications Engineers, Electrification Service Engineering, and Technical Field Service engineers, located in the United States supporting key customers and plants.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
JOB DUTIES:
- Lead and maintain timing in all phases of customer programs / projects including support for all RFI/RFP/RFQ’s
- Facilitate internal escalations between Engineering, Sales, Quality, Warranty, Manufacturing and Assembly for specific programs / projects (voice of customer within the Dana organization).
- Empowers team members to own their programs, maintain a balance of robustness, timeliness, cost sensitivity, and customer relationships.
- Manage Customer Approval Process as a part of Dana’s Change Management Process including maintaining visibility to customer impact, supporting short- and long-term strategy development for larger scale changes, and bringing the voice of the customer back to Dana.
- Facilitate the implementation of design changes, cost savings, new model launches, service initiatives/support at key customers.
- Prioritize and execute key initiatives to update and enhance tools used for internal and external analysis and approvals.
- Escalate and drive resolution of customer assembly plant build issues and assist with resolution of field, warranty, and quality issues.
- Coordinate and prioritize special vehicle builds and special orders.
- Emphasize support of Advanced Product Quality Planning activities for customer programs.
- Attend/facilitate/host customer engineering meetings and help bring open items to closure.
- Provide product specific expertise in support of the customer's requirements.
- Engage and integrate as part of the customer solutions engineering community, representing Dana.
- Represent Dana in a positive, customer-centric, ethical, and professional manner.
- Support and take ownership of Applications-responsible tasks for internal engineering design reviews.
- Identify and communicate opportunities for Dana to work with customers on new or emerging products or programs.
- Prepare, manage, and control the department budget at or below Annual Operating Plan.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Four-year degree in Mechanical, Systems, Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering required.
- 10+ years of experience including 5+ years of experience in automotive or commercial vehicle industry and 2+ years of experience/exposure to multi-domain Electric Vehicle system development.
- Experience in drivetrain/powertrain/chassis engineering or related field is a plus.
- Experience in and/or exposure to Embedded controls, calibration, or functional saftey activities is a plus.
- Must have taken a program from concept to production via a Design Review Process, IATF 16949 Audited program a plus.
- Must be a self-directed and motivated individual who is willing to accept responsibility.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Must have experience with structured problem solving.
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills to work with people at all levels within and outside Dana in a professional manner.
- Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint) and Outlook.
- Strong organizational skills and able to handle multiple tasks and responsibilities.
- Must be able to handle stressful/high-pressure situations in a professional manner.
- Willing and able to work excess hours when necessary.
