OVERVIEW

Advertising moves the people to the product; merchandising is what moves the product to the people. —Charles Luckman

For decades, Retailers have perfected merchandising in-store: how to price products, which products to promote, how to bundle them together… It’s a core part of the in-store experience. Yet online, the industry is far behind.. Retailers depend on static banners, lack analytics and rely on very manual workflows to run merchandising campaigns.

This is a unique moment in the industry where customers' expectations towards online grocery are changing, they now expect to be inspired not just fulfill their weekly needs. Meanwhile, retailers of all size are heavily investing in online capabilities to stay competitive and grow their business.

Through our Instacart Platform strategy, we plan to build world-class merchandising capabilities. Helping customers discover new products and save money while empowering retailers to drive category growth, trip frequency and retention.
