About the Position

The Clinical Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor - Assistant Program Administrator provides academic, educational, and clinical instruction, and administrative support to the Program Administrator/Concentration Coordinator of the Nurse Anesthesia Program, assisting with the implementation and evaluation of program operations and providing leadership for specifically delegated areas of responsibility. This faculty leadership position is integral to maintaining excellence in program quality, student outcomes, and regulatory compliance. 

Faculty Responsibilities

  • Teach graduate nurse anesthesia and DNP courses in areas of expertise, including development of course objectives, learning activities, instructional materials, examinations, grading rubrics, and other assessments.
  • Design, deliver, and evaluate simulation-based education, including high-fidelity anesthesia scenarios, skills laboratories, debriefing, and competency assessment.
  • Provide direct clinical instruction and supervision of nurse anesthesia students in affiliated clinical settings, consistent with student level, patient acuity, case complexity, safety requirements, and accreditation expectations.
  • Evaluate student performance in didactic, simulation, and clinical settings; provide timely formative and summative feedback; document achievement of competencies and clinical requirements; and contribute to remediation plans when needed.
  • Serve as academic advisor and faculty mentor for nurse anesthesia students and chair or serve on DNP scholarly project committees as assigned.
  • Maintain currency in nurse anesthesia clinical practice, educational methods, simulation pedagogy, accreditation standards, and certification requirements.
  • Engage in clinical scholarship, evidence-based practice, quality improvement, professional dissemination, and/or educational innovation consistent with the clinical faculty role and assigned workload.
  • Participate in faculty governance, college and university committees, professional service, recruitment, orientation, and other responsibilities expected of full-time faculty.

Delegated Program Leadership and Administrative Responsibilities

  • Assist the Program Administrator/Concentration Coordinator in administering the academic and clinical components of the Nurse Anesthesia Program while maintaining an active faculty teaching role.
  • Lead or coordinate delegated aspects of curriculum implementation, course coordination, simulation education, clinical education, student assessment, and program evaluation.
  • Support compliance with COA, CCNE, university, state, and federal requirements, including preparation of accreditation reports, self-study materials, site visits, and ongoing documentation.
  • Collaborate with clinical sites, preceptors, clinical coordinators, and faculty to ensure appropriate placements, supervision, case experiences, student safety, and a supportive clinical learning environment.
