The Opportunity

The Senior Scientist in the Research and Early Development Pharma Services team will support clinical and research sample processing, which includes high throughput DNA extraction, library preparation, and Next Generation Sequencing for Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma projects.

In this role, you are:

• Designing, planning and executing assigned research and/or development-related experiments/projects applying protocols precisely, and with extreme care under design control regulations and GMP laboratory conditions. You are adapting to regular protocol changes as protocols are being developed and improved.
• Analyzing data, evaluates results. May use analytical software JMP to produce reports and to contribute to timely achievement and improvements of the results. Makes recommendations, and when appropriate, acts independently to resolve scientific problems encountered during experimental procedures.
• Manually executing efficient DNA extraction from human plasma and blood using the AVENIO assay
• Making high throughput, targets enriched libraries for purpose of next generation sequencing. Able to resolve project-specific multiplexing schemes for sequencing. Operates Illumina sequencing platforms and performs routine maintenance washes
• Working under manager supervision to plan and conduct hands-on development and optimization experiments as needed
• Submitting data to internal sequencing and MRD pipelines, able to recognize and troubleshoot inconsistencies in data output

Who you are

• You hold a bachelor’s degree in Biological/Life Sciences, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field; and 4-5 years of relevant experience required.
• 6+ years of experience is a plus. Equivalent combination of education and work experience (Master's degree with 2+ years experience)ç
• Required experience: NGS-based workflows including target enrichment, and library preparation; sequencing on Illumina NGS platforms; Multichannel pipetting

Preferred behaviors, competencies, and qualities of the ideal applicant.

• Strong laboratory proficiency and experience with processing multiple samples with high degree of accuracy in a high through-put environment is preferred
• Proficient in operation of Agilent TapeStation, Bioanalyzer and the Qubit, able to interpret and troubleshoot results
• Ability to work under pressure with highly precious samples
• Experience with high throughput pipetting on daily basis with single and multichannel pipettes with accuracy

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is 79,000 - 146,600.  Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.  A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance.  This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
