About the role
This is a grant funded position and continuation is dependent upon availability of funds.
POSITION PURPOSE:
Under the general supervision of the Director of Adult Education, the Part-Time Adult Education and Literacy (AEL) Recruiter will be responsible for scheduling information sessions, orientation, and attending recruiting events in the service areas.
GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Be familiar with rules and regulations of the Adult Education and Literacy programs as stated in the operating guide for Adult Education and Literacy programs in Texas.
- Collecting information and qualifying students for programs and services.
- Assist potential students with completion of online application.
- Presents Adult Education & Literacy Program to small and large groups on site and in the community.
- Willing to travel to service areas for recruiting events.
- Entering, updating, and reviewing data and records.
- Corresponding with AEL applicants and prospective students via phone, email and text.
- Manage the applicant pipeline.
- Become certified to administer assessments as required by TWC (Texas Workforce Commission).
- Maintain active membership of TALAE (Texas Association for Literacy & Adult Education).
- Acquire professional development hours required by TWC as outlined within the time frame requested by AEL.
- Demonstrate group awareness and sensitivity.
- Attend networking events.
- Attend AEL Commencement and all other special events.
- Turn in all paperwork in a timely manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Demonstrate a spirit of teamwork.
- Must have basic computer literacy skills.
- Must have good typing and keyboarding skills.
- Must have the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, administrators, and staff with the willingness to work in a cooperative way with others across multiple functions and departments.
- Must develop a thorough knowledge of the Adult Education policies and procedures.
- Must be able to work in a busy environment with numerous interruptions.
- Must be willing to work occasional weekends and nights.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
- Associates Degree or Certified as Instructional Aide.
- Fluent in the Spanish language.
- Valid Driver’s license and reliable transportation (mileage reimbursed).
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- This is a part-time office position that reports in person and has a required number of hours per week.
- Variances from regular working hours are necessary for recruiting and other events in order to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.
- Some nights and weekend will be required.
- Busy working environment with numerous interruptions.
SALARY: $20. - $25. per hour, commensurate with education & experience / up to 19 hours per week.
