Lafayette College, a highly selective, private liberal arts college of 2,700 undergraduates, located in the picturesque Lehigh Valley and the historic city of Easton, PA (just 75 minutes from both New York City and Philadelphia), plans to appoint an admissions professional to help lead the College’s effort to recruit, select and enroll new classes of students. General responsibilities for this position include:
● Attend training sessions and all application review meetings (during East Coast business hours)
● Holistically evaluate applications (including transcripts, recommendations and essays) and submit assessments
● Make recommendations on decisions
● Participate in committee review, presenting their applications
● Maintain regular contact with their assigned Second Reader and be willing to accept feedback
● Perform other duties, as needed
Work begins in early November and concludes in late March. In order to meet weekly reading goals, the Seasonal Reader must be able to spend 15-30 hours per week. An application load could be up to 400 applications; however, it is more likely to be 200-300. This is a part-time, non-benefits eligible position, with the opportunity to return each year.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree is required. Excellent communication, time management, decision-making, and organizational skills are expected, as well as the ability to work individually and as part of a team. Must be able to keep pace, be responsive to deadlines and feedback, and work well under pressure. Demonstration of a commitment to diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and cultural awareness is essential. A high level of energy and an excitement for young people and their aspirations for college are critical components to being successful in this role. The seasonal reader must have access to a private space with high-speed internet. As an alternative to working from home, the reader may choose to work in the Admissions Operations office. A laptop computer will be provided.

● reviewing applications as part of a selective admissions process
● knowledge of Slate
● within one hour’s drive from Easton, PA
