Primary Function
The Senior Benefits Manager oversees the administration, compliance, and strategic planning of corporate benefit programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability coverage, flexible spending accounts (FSA), health savings accounts (HSA), and employee leave programs. The role ensures benefits are competitive, cost‑effective, and aligned with organizational goals, with rigorous adherence to federal and state regulations, including FMLA, ADA, COBRA, ERISA, HIPAA, ACA, and USERRA.
Essential Functions
Administer benefits for multiple companies and contracts, including Service Contract Act (SCA) and Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) requirements.
Manage employee leave programs (FMLA and other applicable leave policies).
Oversee Workers’ Compensation and OSHA reporting and partner with Safety/Legal on incident management.
Serve as the primary benefits contact for all Yulista Holding locations.
Collaborate with the Corporate Benefits team to price, design, and procure benefits for current and future contracts; support proposal development with benefit cost inputs.
Lead annual Open Enrollment end-to-end (plan design updates, communications, HRIS configuration, vendor coordination, timelines, and post‑enrollment audits).
Conduct benefits meetings for new contracts and annual enrollment; travel to contract locations as needed.
Develop clear, inclusive communications and materials for new hires, open enrollment, and recruiting.
Supervise benefits staff with coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback; allocate workload and drive process consistency.
Resolve employee inquiries; interpret benefit policies; escalate complex issues as appropriate.
Maintain accurate HRIS data and produce routine and ad‑hoc reports; analyze trends (utilization, cost, participation) to inform plan design.
Ensure compliance readiness (policy documentation, notices, file audits, and vendor oversight).
Perform other related duties to support organizational objectives.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Manage the daily workflow of benefits staff; set priorities, ensure service levels, and uphold policy compliance and deadlines.
Remote Work & Travel Expectations
Work Arrangement: Hybrid role based in Huntsville, AL, combining on‑site collaboration and remote work.
Travel: Up to 20–30% travel to contract locations for new contract setup, benefits meetings, and open enrollment.
Schedule: Occasional extended hours during open enrollment, audit periods, or vendor implementations; primary coverage aligned to Central Time (CT).
Remote Eligibility: Remote work may be approved based on business needs and performance; must maintain high availability during critical benefits windows.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word); ability to learn new software quickly.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to simplify complex topics.
Integrity and confidentiality in handling sensitive employee information.
Excellent interpersonal skills; collaborates effectively across all levels and with external partners/vendors.
Analytical and problem‑solving skills; able to make data‑driven decisions and present insights clearly.
Able to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and meet deadlines.
Familiarity with corporate policies and compliance requirements; comfort with audits and documentation.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or Business Management.
10+ years of benefits administration experience with at least 2 years in a management role, preferably in a government contracting environment.
Strong knowledge of FMLA, ADA, COBRA, ERISA, HIPAA, ACA, and USERRA.
Experience with union benefits programs is required.
Workday HRIS experience strongly preferred.
Professional certifications (PHR/SPHR, SHRM‑CP/SCP, or CEBS) preferred.
Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, if required.
Physical Requirements
