About the role

About the Team

At DoorDash we’re building the industry’s most scalable and reliable delivery network to support our three-sided marketplace of consumers, merchants, and dashers. TPMs on our Engineering teams provide fundamental support to the underlying technology services as well as the engineers building these services. It’s no simple task, but it wouldn’t be interesting if it was!

About the Role

Our team is looking for a Manager to lead our growing Technical Program Management Team. You will work closely with our Product & Platforms Engineering Teams to drive important engineering-wide initiatives.

You will report to the Senior Manager of TPM within our Engineering Operations organization. This is a flexible hybrid role, requiring accessibility to a DoorDash Engineering office location.

You're excited about this opportunity because you will…

  • Lead, mentor, coach and grow a team of Technical Program Managers who drive planning and execution of high impact, complex programs throughout the company
  • Own team building strategy, performance reviews, continuous feedback, and career growth feedback for your team
  • Develop partnerships with leaders across the company to understand their strategic goals and be a sounding board on how to achieve those goals
  • Provide hands-on support on programs that require leadership involvement to meet key milestones or deliverables
  • Be an escalation point for high risk issues requiring leadership support and guidance

We're excited about you because you have…

  • Hands-on experience owning and driving high impact programs with multiple cross-functional teams inside and outside of Engineering – you can build consensus while dealing with ambiguity
  • Willingness to lean in and course-correct a faltering program or bootstrap a new project
  • Coaching best practices that are derived from your own experiences from diving into program details and working closely with team members to solve hard problems
  • Strong partnerships with Product teams in defining strategy and requirements
  • Experience designing, scoping, shepherding features, creating roadmaps, and driving technical specs with Engineering teams – you operate at the lowest level of detail and understand the complexity and interdependencies of technologies and teams
  • An empathetic leadership style, providing timely feedback to team members and seeking feedback to grow as a leader
  • Adaptability, resiliency, and ability to thrive in ambiguity – things can change quickly, and you'll need to help the team evolve

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 5+ years as a TPM, Engineering leader, or Product Manager in a relevant technical domain
  • At least 2 years of experience managing a TPM or Engineering-related team in a relevant technical domain
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills – able to convey concepts and considerations to non-experts and experts alike
  • Experience in Computer Science, Software Engineering or other related disciplines desired
