We are looking for a Community Development Grant Specialist to join our team.

About the Position: 

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Community Development Grant Specialist to support the Housing Stability Division’s Housing and Urban Development team.  This team works with HUD Funding including CDBG, ESG, HOME and HOPWA awards. These funds are used to help with a wide range of affordable housing, public services and homeless services projects.  The HUD team is a small team working to keep the city’s HUD funds up to date with policy and program changes from the federal level down to the community level.  The city receives around 15 Million dollar across its 4 programs and funds up to 60 programs a year.

The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Accounting, Public Administration, or a closely related field plus 2-4 years of related experience. Education and experience may be substituted one for the other on a year-for-year basis.

Position Salary Range:  

$60,941/yr. - $83,111/yr. The established market rate for this position is $83,111/yr.

Work Schedule:

This position typically works Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Hybrid work may be available.

Key Responsibilities: 

• Reviews grant applications and verifies compliance with applicable regulations, City ordinances, and program requirements.

• Advises and negotiates with all parties to ensure they understand and comply with program parameters to meet the goals of funding requirements, city initiatives, and associated implementation efforts.

• Drafts legal grant agreements, memorandums of understanding, amendments, restricted use agreements, promissory notes, and trust deed contracts.

• May assists with or actively participate in the contractual requirements, grant application process, budget planning, and evaluation of grantee performance each year for certain awards. Attends or conducts meetings to explain grant awards’ activities and requirements and responds to inquiries. Prepares information for the Mayor, City Council, various advisory groups, and the public, as needed.

• Manages grant reimbursement process and financial tracking to ensure timely payments to all grantees, and monitors grant spend down and actively works w
