Duties & Responsibilities
• Maintain a personal, active relationship with Jesus Christ and be a strong Christian witness in all interactions with youth, staff, donors, volunteers, and the general public so as to uphold Black Mountain Home’s mission of Glorifying God by caring for children, youth, and families.
• Commit to pray regularly for the youth, staff, and ministry.
• Attend staff meetings, which include participation in a time of Christian devotion and prayer, as assigned. Review minutes and sign off for missed meetings to stay aware of ministry updates.
• Supervise and give leadership to the Thrift Store Assistant Managers and other store staff, interns, and volunteers.
• In conjunction with the Thrift Store/Café General Manager, coordinate staff schedules for coverage of the thrift store during normal business hours as detailed in the Hours of Operation Policy.
• Oversee the appearance of the store to include planning and setting up displays; maintaining a clutter-free environment, cleaning; etc.
• Oversee inventory management and production to include leading and assisting volunteers through the processing of merchandise to the sales floor.
• Work to ensure all OSHA and Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) rules and regulations are followed at all times in the store.
• Ensure new staff and volunteers only do work they have been trained to do.
• Problem solve as needed and complete other projects as requested.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
• High school diploma, GED, or five years of retail leadership experience.
• Must be able to work at least some Saturdays.
• Must be able to lift or assist in lifting and moving a variety of items, including items that may weigh more than 50 pounds. Various tools and machines are in place to assist with this.
• Must be able to stand most of the day in a retail setting.
• Must maintain an active driver’s license and be able to competently operate what may be a large vehicle for donation pick-ups.
• Must be proactive in store planning.
• Must demonstrate ability to thoughtfully consider merchandising, display, and/or decoration.
• Must have strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Some knowledge of network, computer, and POS systems in order to troubleshoot minor problems and work toward ever-increasing efficiency and productivity.
