Description
Overview:
The Assistant Vice Provost for Global Engagement acts as Senior International Officer and oversees the activities, and staff of the Center for International Education and the American Language and Culture Institute. This includes oversight of international student and scholar services, study abroad and faculty-led study travel, partnership cultivation, and collaboration with other areas including admissions, enrollment management, and student life in order to develop strategies to recruit, admit, welcome, and support international students. The assistant vice provost creates opportunities to enhance and fund global engagement from external sources to support the mission of SSU to prepare students of various backgrounds to contribute to a global society.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a relevant discipline.
- Six years of experience in international education leadership.
- Specialized experience necessary to fulfill the duties and responsibilities of the position including SEVIS and compliance expertise, program development, oversight of operations of a multifaceted office.
- Experience in an administrative leadership position in higher education.
- Knowledge and awareness of recruiting international students for both initial and transfer enrollment in a regional public university
- Demonstrated supervisory experience and leadership attributes as determined by title and duties in past positions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Doctoral degree in a relevant field.
- Practical ability to communicate in a language other than English.
- Successful portfolio of recruitment initiatives.
- Experience living outside of the United States.
- Research and publishing in a field of international higher education.
- Demonstrated leadership in relevant professional organizations.
Working Conditions:
This is an on-site position in Salem, MA with on-campus, in-person responsibilities. There are occasional evening and weekend hours. Occasional domestic and international travel is expected.
Office activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and interaction with computer equipment; occasional bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 5-10 pounds.
