The P FS SAFETY OAHU Department of the P SAFETY AND EMERGENCY PLANNING & PREPAREDNESS Division at Hawaiian Electric Company has 1 Management vacancy available. (Role: Professional)

 

JOB FUNCTION:

Performs accurate and timely analysis on safety and EEP program performance indicators such as trending leading indicators and electrical utility best practicing utilizing software and other tools. Supports the department in the development, communication, and implementation of Safety Programs that supports company objectives, and promotes a culture of safety throughout the company.  Provides financial information, analyses and recommendations in the development and monitoring of department budget.   

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Safety and Health Program:

  • Works with the Safety & EPP Program Manager on the utilization of the division’s software and programs.
  • Supports programs, procedures, and initiatives through the design, configuration, testing, auditing and maintenance divisions software and programs.

 

Program Monitoring & Reporting:

  • Develops tools and reports to monitor and analyze performance indicators. Tracks information within division software and other related databases. Interprets and analyzes data and trends, reports recommendations for key decision making to enhance and improve safety programs. Creates reports and dashboards to best communicate data and performance of programs and initiatives.

 

Department Budget:

  • Supports the Division’s Director and Managers in the development, management and monitoring of budget forecast and reports.  Alerts management to impending discrepancies; revises forecasts as necessary to reflect actual year-to-date and better predict year-end expenditures. Ensures that accounting procedures and systems for Corporate Safety are aligned with overall process area and corporate goals.

 

Information Technology Change Coordination:

  • Assists the Safety & EPP Program Manager with computer-related tasks.  Works with power users and end users in developing appropriate reports.  Leads mapping/blueprinting, testing, and evaluation of new software and software updates and fixes that is vital to the success of safety programs.

 

Division Program Coordination and Support:

  • Assists with research, scheduling, coordinating, contracts, material orders, and other duties for successful development, implementation, and sustainability of safety programs.

 

Division Support and Improvements:

  • Supports the Manager in the development of systems, processes and procedures to facilitate the smooth and effective functioning of the Division.
  • In support of continuous improvement goals and objectives, participates in projects and studies to improve existing practices, procedures, programs, policies, and training curricula and materials.  Serves as a role model for continuous improvement behaviors.

 

Participates in Company emergency response activities as assigned, including any activities required to prepare for such emergency response.

 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge Requirements

  • Thorough knowledge of personal computers, standard Microsoft office software applications. Knowledge of or ability to learn other software programs such as UI Planner, Ellipse, and safety management software databases.   
  • General knowledge of the principles of accounting, including general ledger, cost accounting and capital budgeting systems normally acquired through college level courses or significant equivalent experience. 
  • Familiar with relevant Hawaii OSHA, Federal OSHA, DOT, DOH, PUC, NIOSH, National Fire Safety Code, State of Hawaii and City and County, various ANSI standards, general electrical utility safety & health practices, rules and regulations, usually acquired through college level courses or equivalent experience.  
  • Working knowledge of continuous improvement deployment system, principles, procedures, tools, and desired behaviors.
