Digital Divide Coordinator
GENERAL PURPOSE
Through support from the Rural Health Transformation Program the Bridging the Digital Divide Program at Oak Hill’s Integrated Center will work to close the digital divide that currently exists for aging adults and adults with disabilities located in rural communities in northwestern Connecticut by connecting them to appropriate resources and technology. The Digital Divide Coordinator (DDC) will be responsible for performing community outreach and conducting training to support the targeted population. The DDC will join a multidisciplinary team to collaboratively enhance community awareness and knowledge of standard technology and assistive technology in ways that align with best practices. The DDC will assist the Director of Assistive Technology Services at Oak Hill with projects and ancillary assignments, on an as needed basis.
SUPERVISORY AND OTHER CONTACTS
• This position will report to the Director of Assistive Technology Services. The DDC will not have any supervisory responsibilities.
• This individual will work with community members, agencies, and other statewide partners as a liaison to Oak Hill’s Integrated Center team. Occasional collaboration with other Oak Hill departments is required.
TARGET OUTCOMES/MEASURES OF SUCCESS
• Execute Bridging the Digital Divide services and programs in accordance with Oak Hill’s philosophy and mission
• Use existing and newly developed resources to create tailored support and programs for the targeted demographic
• Generate training materials
• Collect and report programmatic data to ensure contract deliverables are achieved and we are engaging a maximum group of individuals in this targeted demographic
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provide technology assistance, outreach, and services to aging adults and adults with disabilities to help reduce their social isolation and increase their access to technology and connectivity. Areas of desired access may include employment, home, and community settings. Service delivery via both remote and in-person modalities are expected. Programmatic documentation is required, as applicable.
2. Conduct individual and group trainings on general technology operations.
3. Refer clients to Oak Hill’s Assistive Technology services when more comprehensive support is warranted. As such, the DDC will facilitate a critical continuum of care.
4. Coordinate with Integrated Center and Oak Hill staff, as well as outside vendors, to manage and execute services, events, activities, and programs critical to our mission.
5. Develop and maintain community connections to facilitate technology awareness and access.
6. Design, develop, and deliver engaging presentations and workshops that align with best practices for residential, vocational, and consumer groups at the local and national levels.
7. Stay current with technology trends and ensure high quality service delivery.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
• High School Diploma
• Experiences in the field of disability services, human services, and/or social work
• Experiences operating and troubleshooting technology tools and devices
• Ability to interact well with varying cultures and ages, including the aging population
• Quality writing, time management, and verbal communication skills; exceptional organizational skills applied in a deadline driven environment.
• Must be willing to travel to northwestern Connecticut to meet with clients
Preferred Requirements:
• Entry level knowledge and experience in assistive technology
• Training/teaching experience
• Secondary education

This position requires a personable approach to working with individuals within the community. This position requires a high level of analytical thinking and problem-solving skills to successfully meet the needs of clients. Outstanding collaboration skills coupled with excellent interpersonal skills are necessary to assist individuals in reaching their technology goals and attaining social connections.
