About The Role
The Vice President, Government Affairs and State Partnerships will implement a multistate strategy to achieve Panorama Education’s growth objectives. This role will develop and advance Panorama’s state strategy agenda by helping design, implement, and coordinate the company’s strategic direction as it relates to outreach, messaging, and engagement with (1) elected officials, government officials and their staff and (2) State Departments of Education and State Boards of Education (state education agencies or “SEAs”). This role will also support Panorama’s Revenue Team with outreach, messaging and engagement with Top 100 school district Boards.
The successful candidate will deeply understand legislative, regulatory, and political processes including knowledge of how to influence state procurement processes to advance Panorama’s revenue goals and government affairs influence. The successful candidate will also build and maintain thriving cross-functional relationships across Panorama, especially with Panorama’s Revenue Team, to ensure strong collaboration, communication and execution of the Key Responsibilities below.
Key Responsibilities - State and District Enterprise Partnerships
- Collaborate with Panorama’s Revenue Team to develop and implement strategies to establish and maintain Panorama as a trusted partner with SEAs
- Support Panorama Revenue Team’s outreach, messaging and engagement with top 100 district decision-makers
- Advocate for Panorama’s products and services on the state level to sell and expand Panorama’s products and services in collaboration and alignment with Panorama’s Revenue Team
- Examples of such state level advocacy include: (A) opening new SEA sales opportunities and helping close these opportunities in partnerships with the Revenue Team; (B) providing material support to close SEA deals, including RFP support; (C) influencing at-risk SEA contracts to ensure contracts are not canceled or terminated; and (D) positioning state funding legislation for Panorama’s products and services
- For clarity, this role does not include responsibility for post-sale support for SEAs
- Build and support relationships with key stakeholders in the education sector including SEAs, district leaders, educational organizations, associations, and companies to expand Panorama’s network for state and enterprise sales and partnerships
- Use strong understanding of K12 education and the edtech ecosystem to contribute to go-to-market strategies, state and enterprise proposal responses, positioning, messaging in support of expanding revenue growth
- Develop relationships with potential grant funding partners and analyze opportunities released by states, foundations, and federal agencies
Key Responsibilities - Government Affairs
- Advocate for Panorama’s education and technology priorities on the federal and state levels
- Provide leadership for Panorama’s government affairs team
- Manage outside consulting, lobbying, public relations and association resources to achieve Panorama’s legislative, regulatory, and reputational goals
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with key partners in governmental and non-governmental agencies, organizations, associations, and companies to expand Panorama’s government affairs capacity
- Represent Panorama in meetings with state and federal officials and partners as needed
- Collaborate with Panorama executive leadership to execute effective government affairs strategies
Candidate Qualifications
- 15+ years of relevant government affairs and state education experience, with proven relationship and coalition building skills
- 5+ years people leadership experience - building, managing and mentoring a team
- Experience as a senior government affairs officer with a nationwide company or commercially oriented non-profit organization, preferred in education and technology
