Accountant II

Zachry Exploration is currently looking for a talented Revenue Accountant to join our Accounting department in San Antonio, TX. This is a great opportunity to get into a leading role within a small group in one of Zachry’s growing entities.

• Maintain Operated and Non-Operated Well information, Owner DOI, and Purchaser information in OGAS software
• Deposit and record monthly cash receipts from oil and gas purchasers
• Compile revenue information received monthly from purchasers, and verify volumes and prices 
• Enter detail information into OGAS software and generate royalty checks to all owners
• Maintain current working knowledge of severance tax rules for Texas and Louisiana
• Calculate and remit monthly severance taxes to various states
• Prepare quarterly revenue accruals based on well production & prices
• Prepare quarterly financial statements and supporting schedules for 1 subsidiary and 2 affiliates in accordance with GAAP
• Prepare and record various monthly & quarterly journal entries
• Reconcile revenue-related accounts and analyze and explain account variances
• Prepare annual 1099’s for all royalty and vendor payments
• Track project & well payout status
• Generate special reports for senior management as required
• Assist in annual company audit, and audits from state agencies

 

• Accounting degree required
• Oil & Gas experience/knowledge preferred
• Strong Excel skills required
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with ability to interact with management and royalty owners
• Must be a self-starter, able to work with little supervision

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Employee will be required to communicate in person, via telephone, email, video chat and software systems. Position may include visits to construction sites and industrial facilities requiring mobility (on ground and at heights) and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to: hardhat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves and work boots.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position will be required to be in the company office.  Employee will be based out of the local Zachry office, but may be required to work in multiple environments.
