Job Description

RESPEC, an employee-owned professional consulting and services company, specializes in applying engineering principles and innovative technologies to solve our clients’ most challenging problems. RESPEC seeks a geological engineer to assist in hydrogeology evaluations and expanding the company’s capabilities in groundwater services and data analytics. The projects are often multidisciplinary; therefore, a basic understanding in areas including geochemistry, rock mechanics, and geophysics is beneficial.  The successful candidate will work under the direct supervision of experienced engineering staff.  Limited travel will be required in the fulfillment of these responsibilities.  The applicant must be fluent in programming. 

Responsibilities:

  • Field investigations of surface and subsurface fluid and gas mining evaluations and problems; economic brine evaluations
  • Hydrogeological field testing and analysis
  • Numerical and analytical groundwater flow modeling
  • Data analysis of large multidisciplinary datasets through statistical, spatial, temporal, and spatiotemporal methodologies. 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor of science degree or master of science degree in geological engineering
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in the following areas:
    • Expertise in groundwater flow modeling, statistical methods, and programming with a preference in MATLAB.  Preference will be given to those that have applied these skills in surface and underground mines. 
    • Working knowledge in economic brines and potash and phosphate mining is preferred
  • Professional licensure or the ability to achieve professional licensure
  • Excellent interpersonal and effective oral and written communication skills.

Available Office Locations: Rapid City, SD, Sarasota, FL, Saskatoon, SK; remote locations will be considered for the right candidate.

Compensation:  Salary depends on experience and expertise.
