Our people division is growing, and we are looking for a Senior Chemist at our Carlin operations. The successful candidate will perform activities essential to developing and improving both new and existing recovery processes.

Responsibilities:
Supervise, mentor and train subordinate chemists
Create, develop, and test compounds and formulas used in products, exercising professional judgment in the evaluation, selection, and modification of applied methods and techniques
Identify and recommend improvements to processes to maintain quality, cost-effectiveness, safety compliance, and other parameters
Draft and distribute laboratory reports detailing results of testing and analysis
Maintain documentation for each project assignment; reviews reports written by subordinate staff for accuracy and compliance with professional standards
Collaborate with interdepartmental teams
Operate, maintain, and tests laboratory equipment; identifies problems when equipment fails and conducts or recommends repairs
Draft standard operating procedures and safety materials
Ensure compliance of proper handling, storage, and disposal of chemical agents
Maintain knowledge of federal, state, local, and organizational best practices and environmental health and safety regulations
Responds to a variety of internal and/or external requests
Lead self and others in both daily assignments and special projects working collaboratively with peers and other departments to reach operational goals
Recommends changes to policies, processes, standards, and practices that would improve operational support
Deliver larger project workstreams, carrying out specified project activities within defined time and quality parameters and ensuring adherence to the prescribed project management methodology
Follow the organization's HS&E policies, procedures, and mandatory instructions to identify and mitigate environmental risks and risks to the wellbeing of oneself and others in the workplace; instruct the team in safe working methods; identify instances of risky behaviors within the team and take appropriate action, escalating serious issues as appropriate
Ensure HS&E procedures are in place and followed by subordinates
Define clear objectives and expectations of direct reports, evaluate performance, provide verbal and written feedback on career growth, and encourage innovative thinking and process improvement
Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation where relevant to improve performance and fulfill personal potential. Maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, or a related field; Master’s degree or equivalent experience required
Minimum five (5) years’ of related work experience preferred
Fully qualified and experienced professional chemist who has considerable latitude for independent judgement, actions, and decisions, and has full profession
