Mental Health Services Clinician / Clinical Coordinator of FLI-Focused Services

Student Health and Well-Being (SHWB) Mental Health Services at Johns Hopkins University seeks an energetic, organized, and motivated Mental Health Services Clinician / Clinical Coordinator of FLI-Focused Services to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment focused on delivering innovative mental healthcare and supporting the well-being of a diverse community of learners. Reporting to the Associate Director of Assessment and Student Success, the Mental Health Services (MHS) Clinician/Clinical Coordinator of FLI-focused Services is part of a team of clinicians providing clinical and outreach services to students and learners across Johns Hopkins University.

The MHS Clinician/Clinical Coordinator of FLI-focused Services is part of a newly established Assessment and Student Success initiative and service line; the MHS Clinician/Clinical Coordinator of FLI-focused Services will be part of the team that provides testing and assessment services, executive functioning and time management coaching, and individualized support for the unique needs of undergraduate students who identify as first-generation and/or limited income and/or as neurodivergent, as well as those who may benefit from expanded resources to support their overall success at JHU. The MHS Clinician/Clinical Coordinator of FLI-focused Services participates in the full range of generalist clinical service delivery, along with specific expertise in clinical and case management interventions for students who identify as first-generation and/or limited income (FLI). As Clinical Coordinator of FLI-focused Services, this clinician will serve as a consultant to other staff, contribute to professional development activities, and develop and implement group and psychoeducational interventions for clients and FLI student populations. The person in this position works collaboratively with primary care, psychiatry, and health promotion staff, along with colleagues in Mental Health Services, to provide care that emphasizes holistic wellness and mental well-being and that leverages students’ resilience and other key skills. The MHS Clinician/Clinical Coordinator of FLI-focused Services will collaborate with campus partners across the University, including the Center for Student Success, through outreach and liaison activities. Specific Duties & Responsibilities

• This position’s direct clinical service responsibilities will be primarily based at the Homewood clinic but may provide virtual or in-person services and supervision at other locations in Maryland or Washington, D.C.

Direct Clinical Service (65%)

• Creates a warm and welcoming clinical environment where clients feel supported and respected as they pursue their personal, academic, and professional goals.

• Provides multiculturally informed direct clinical services, including goal-oriented approaches to initial consultations, intake assessments, single-session therapy, individual counseling, group and relationship counseling, and crisis intervention for a diverse community of undergraduate and graduate students.

• Develops and implements group interventions with a particular focus on supporting the first generation and/or limited-income students access resources across the University to support student success.

• Utilizes both flexible and goal-oriented approaches to individual treatment, such as cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, executive functioning support, and interpersonal therapy.

• Collaborates with providers within SHWB as an interdisciplinary treatment team, including therapists, psychiatric providers, primary care clinicians, and case management staff.

• Provides clinical case management to support connections to appropriate resources and bridge clients to care.

• Consults, as appropriate, with providers in the community to facilitate continuity of care.

Outreach (15%)

• Develops, implements, and integrates evaluation feedback for psycho-educational workshops and other presentations for JHU students and learners, with a special focus on students who identify as first-generation and/or limited income.
