Maintenance (32871)

The Maintenance Person is responsible for performing a wide range of repair and general maintenance/custodial tasks to ensure that BHSC facilities, buildings, and equipment are safe, clean, and well-maintained. This position reports directly to the Maintenance Lead and works closely with School Building Leaders and supervisory team to support a positive learning environment for students, staff, and visitors.

Essential Functions:
•Collaborates with the Maintenance Lead, school building leaders, and supervisory team to ensure safe, clean and well-functioning facilities.
•Performs a variety of repair, custodial and general maintenance work for facilities, buildings, grounds, and equipment at various sites, including electrical, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, painting and cleaning tasks.
•Maintains outside surfaces by salting driveways and sidewalks as needed, mowing lawns, and assisting with landscaping at assigned sites.
•Repairs and maintains building structures and fixtures such as toilets, sinks, floors, walls, carpets, and roofs.
•Troubleshoots and performs minor repairs/adjustments to locks, cabinets, desks, closets, and door hardware.
•Adjusts, repairs, and reports issues related to ventilation, heating, and air conditioning units. Services kitchen appliances and emergency equipment; reports malfunctions to the Maintenance Lead for corrective action.
•Assists with the moving and transportation of furniture, supplies, and equipment
•Sets up and breaks down cubicle partitions, conference rooms, and other spaces for meetings, events, and school functions.
•Activates and deactivates building alarms as required.
•Coordinates and assists with required facility emergency drills in compliance with safety regulations.
•Performs custodial and cleaning services as needed, supporting custodial staff in maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards.
•Keeps current logs and records of required maintenance facility inspections.
•Responds to maintenance requests from BHSC Departments and school sites as needed.
•Completes purchase requests for cleaning and maintenance supplies/equipment as needed.
•Provides maintenance assistance to other BHSC sites as needs arise.
•Travels between BHSC sites as needed.
•Other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Lead.

Qualifications
•Degree/Education: High School diploma or equivalency
•License/Registration: Valid driver’s license & NYS registered Vehicle for required travel between BHSC sites
•Experience- minimum of 3-5 years of maintenance experience
•Physical Requirements: capable of heavy lifting as needed; may also include, but is not limited to bending, kneeling, standing, squatting, climbing, and reaching
•Additional Required Skills: good mechanical aptitude needed
