A Day in the Life of a Senior Engineer
You lead, support and mentor your team to deliver creative solutions for challenging quick-build projects. Like larger capital projects, which are predominantly constructed with asphalt and concrete materials, quick-build projects are meant to be built quickly using a variety of materials, flexible delivery processes, and funding mechanisms that are developing rapidly. You will share your knowledge with the augmented staff team and the client, delivering quick-build multimodal transportation infrastructure projects in a wide range of contexts, from roadway reconfigurations in highly urban settings to full intersection reconstructions to better serve all users. You help to lead a diverse team to develop project scopes, concept plans, and ultimately deliver final construction plan documents. You will use drafting programs such as MicroStation to fulfill project deliverables, while ensuring that our projects are consistently of the highest quality. You will also have access to key leaders within the City of Austin's transportation department, who will help to set clear project goals and outcomes.
Rapid implementation is exciting and fast-paced, but you get to work with a close-knit, motivated team that is passionate about the work they do. You will get to see your projects evolve from paper to pavement, transforming the City of Austin and getting to use the facilities you helped design.
