Job Description
Sr. Product Security Engineer
Rockwell Automation is looking for a creative engineer to join our global Software and Control organization. You will be part of a new product development team, with a focus on the security focused development, and test of embedded software and features for our products. You will also contribute to the product requirements, process, and tools.
You will have experience in software development and ability to flex between product software design, and test activities.
Essential Functions
- Design embedded software security features
- Develop automated tests to support all product features
- Conduct vulnerability and risk assessments, threat analysis, and security code reviews to identify potential design and implementation vulnerabilities.
- Demonstrate an understanding of object-oriented programming concepts, C++ and Python.
- Use modern continuous integration and development tools and promote continuous improvement of tools and practices across the global development organization.
- Integrate new security features and updates into existing products and ensure the security of all products is maintained throughout the product lifecycle.
- Provide product security engineering recommendations and resolve integration and testing issues.
- Lead security architecture and design review meetings.
- Mentor less experienced personnel and encourage knowledge sharing and learning among the development community.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree

Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or similar discipline.
- Experience developing software and automated tests and tools in object-oriented languages such as C++ or Python
- Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of software engineering experience with demonstrated professional development in software design and implementation
- Understand and apply knowledge of object-oriented analysis, design, and programming techniques
- Experience with automation frameworks and tools development
- Experience in requirements decomposition and test traceability
- Experience using open-source tools like Git and Jenkins
- Knowledge of unit testing using tools like CppUnit, unittest, etc.
- Experience with continuous integration environments, automated test, and acceptance testing
- Experience working in an Agile development setting and Agile project tools
- Experience of industrial protocols, especially Common Industrial Protocol (CIP)
- Understanding of developing software and test to safety and security standards such as IEC 61508 or IEC 62443
