Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is looking for a Network, E-Enabling, Maintenance Systems (NEMS) Service Engineer (Associate or Experienced) to join their team in Seal Beach, CA.

As a NEMS Service Engineer, your primary responsibility will be to assist airline customers in resolving real-time technical problems and issues for 737NG/MAX operators. This includes answering general systems functionality inquiries, resolving short- to medium-term avionics/electrical-related problem reports, investigating long-term issues, and providing proactive fleet guidance. You will work with operators to recover Airplane on Ground (AOG) situations, which sometimes requires working over the phone to troubleshoot an airplane in different time zones or traveling onsite to the airplane location to work with technicians in order to return a grounded airplane to revenue service. All of this is done using the latest Boeing tools, technology, data analytics, and real-time fleet monitoring data. Common customer support functions for this requisition fall within Network and Digital Connectivity systems, which include but are not limited to Onboard Network Systems, Onboard Crew Wireless Connectivity, Onboard Maintenance, Offboard Communication Systems, E-Enabling Network, End-to-End Data Flow Architecture, and more.

Boeing Customer Support operates on a 24/7/365 basis. Employees must be willing to work flexible hours and/or non-standard shifts to support our fleets. International and domestic travel may be required.

Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Associate, Experienced.  

Position Responsibilities:

  • Provides technical, design and informational support for basic production, product support or in-service issues.

  • Troubleshoot basic system problems consistent with operational protocols.

  • Supports and/or creates and provides basic technical documentation (e.g. Fleet Team Digest articles, Service Letters, Drawings, Specifications, documents, data sets, design folders, test requirements documents, manuals) in accordance with engineering processes and procedures for internal reference or external delivery.

  • Supports review of technical design, analysis, and production by reviewing documentation, participating in design reviews, and observing tests and audits to ensure compliance.

  • Assists with the investigation of problems to provide engineering design disposition of discrepancies.

  • Supports and/or leads the research of technical, operational and quality issues that cannot be resolved by the customer.

  • Assists in designing and/or providing analysis of interim and final engineering solutions to return airplanes to revenue service.

  • Works with and possibly directing cross-functional teams to conduct root cause analysis and develop dispositions for complex design non-conformances.

  • Assists in the development of customer correspondence for continued safe operation and maintenance of equipment.

  • Assesses complex system event reports to determine potential safety issues.

  • Must be able to travel to Airlines to lead Technical / Executive review meetings and address complex technical issues.

  • Willing and able to travel 10% of the time domestically and internationally.

  • Able and willing to work the second shift for a 24/7/365-day operation, which may require working on Saturdays and Sundays.

Work Authorization Statement: 

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at Seal Beach, CA location.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement.

  • 2+ or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 2+ years of project management experience.

  • 5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

  • Experience presenting to Executive Leadership and/or Stakeholders.

  • Ability to collaborate with multiple team functions.
