Position Overview

The Office of Fiscal Services is seeking to hire an accountant to perform professional accounting work involving the maintenance of a support system for General Accounting and Administrative Accounts for the Department.  This position prepares complex statistical reports with detailed emphasis on refunds reconciliation and analysis of accounts; monitors, research, and reconciles accounts to ensure accurate payment activity; conducts research, analyzes, prepares, and maintains accurate and complete records of refund checks for the Department.

Essential Functions

  • Performs professional accounting work involving the maintenance of a support system for General Accounting and Administrative Accounts for the Department. 
  • Conducts research, analyzes, prepares, and maintains accurate and complete records of refund checks for the Department. 
  • Monitors, researches, and reconciles accounts to ensure accurate payment activity.
  • Reconciles refund checks, deposits to the accounting system to ensure the Department’s appropriation balances and fund balances reconcile with those of the Comptroller. 
  • Prepares C-63 deposit transmittals for clearing appropriations credit refunds.
  • Assists the supervisor in preparing, reconciling, and analyzing financial statements and pertinent financial reports.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college, with courses in business administration and accounting OR four (4) years of technical accounting experience.

 

*Qualifying state employees in the Upward Mobility Program shall have the stated requirements of this classification waived by successful completion of a qualifying examination.

Work Hours: 8:30am - 5:00pm Monday-Friday; 1-hour unpaid lunch
