The Immunology and Cardiovascular Thematic Research Center (ICV TRC) at BMS is one of the fundamental Research units delivering therapeutics to patients. Position Summary
The Translational Early Development (TED) group within the ICV TRC seeks to understand disease pathophysiology to enable patient selection and stratification in clinical trials and develop critical assays to evaluate target engagement and pharmacodynamics of our new drugs in patients.
We are seeking a talented and highly motivated translational immunologist with strong leadership skills to join our team as Senior Principal Scientist.
Position Responsibilities
In the role as a Senior Principal Scientist within Translational Early Development, the ideal candidate:
Works independently on most deliverables using knowledge and work experience
Presents supportive arguments for highly complex ideas and projects to internal governance bodies and external stakeholders in a way that persuades them to adopt a different point of view, when appropriate
Leads initiatives related to continuous improvement or development of new approaches and technologies within or across functions
Encourages use of experimental innovative approaches within department
Proactively fosters relationships across disciplines and participates in the decision-making process for completion of team goals
Represents the TED team on multi-disciplinary project teams and accountable for identifying and delivering on translational needs
Supervise generation of supportive data for translational plans that enable biomarker plans implementation in early clinical trials (including patient segmentation hypotheses, target engagement and phamacodynamic assays)
Possibility to lead academic collaborations within BMS
Experience
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree and 10+ years of academic and / or industry experience
Or
Master’s Degree and 8+ years of academic and / or industry experience
Or
Ph.D. and 6+ years of academic and industry experience
2+ years of leadership experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Requires comprehensive knowledge of principles, concepts and methodologies within drug discovery, development or production
Ph.D. or equivalent advanced degree in immunology and 6+ years of academic and industry experience and 2+ years of leadership experience
Deep knowledge of human immunology and immune-mediated diseases
Experience in mining large datasets, either independently or in collaboration with computational biologists to understand disease pathophysiology and/or establish patient segmentation hypotheses
Significant focus on cellular assay development for mechanistic characterization, and assessment of target engagement and/
