A Brief Overview
Plans, organizes, leads and directs the staff and operations of one or more major programs or functions within Supply Chain, as assigned by the Director, including overseeing and trouble-shooting all facets, including distribution of supplies and inventory management. This is a multi-incumbent managerial job class with substantial responsibility for the exercise of independent judgment in interviewing, selecting and training subordinates, assigning work, developing work procedures, establishing work schedules, monitoring and evaluating the work performed by subordinates, and disciplining subordinates. Management is the process of orchestrating the effective and efficient accomplishment of critical activities through others' performance and supervising employees who perform work in the activities managed. It includes the authority for planning, organizing, directing, coordinating, and controlling activities and resources. Effective management requires systems thinking (the "big picture" context of the issue being addressed; interconnectedness with other issues not readily apparent; consideration of potential ramifications of actions and decisions; how potential effects should reasonably alter the plan of action; what players need to be included or informed). What you will do
- SURGICAL MATERIALS (C51193):
- Perform to quality, business and operational measurement criteria outlined by the Director to monitor surgical materials performance, utilizing lean quality improvement techniques and executing and facilitating problem-solving processes for continuous improvement against those measures.
- Execute against a system-wide approach for supply chain integration within surgical materials developed by the Director that lowers the total cost of distribution and inventory management functions while improving quality, service and support to caregivers.
- Ensure the compliance of service delivery standards; take appropriate actions by implementing and managing service level agreements.
- Find opportunities in the current surgical materials procurement and delivery process utilizing workflow expertise.
- Implement performance improvement and lean management solutions to reduce supply and inventory cost.
- Identify variability/gaps in sourcing, logistics, distribution, and inventory management and recommend process redesign for service improvement and cost reduction.
- Optimize inventory levels based on a Lean “Plan for Every Part” methodology.
- Leverage Supply Chain technology solutions currently in place at SHC to create optimal efficiencies and ensure appropriate information linkages to other systems, i.e. surgical information systems and patient charge masters. These technologies include Supply Chain information/inventory systems, point of use technology, and e-commerce.
- Actively oversees all functions to bring new product into the Operating Room.
- Approves, validates and verifies all supplies ordered for the OR. Determines Par Level quantity; defines cart supplies and re-stocking; supports the OR business manager with accurate data management for budgeting & revenue management.
- Ensures database validity and integrity for items carried within the OR supply location.
- Runs system reports and downloads data as necessary for the analysis of OR related items.
- Manages the operation of the supply chain and is responsible for supporting the Operating Rooms (OR) with effective management of all high-end surgical materials.
- Participates in vendor management as pertains to the supply operations.
- Responds to all operational issues regarding OR supplies. Initiates and follows through on appropriate action to achieve solutions.
- Serves as the primary contact for trouble shooting any supply chain incidents/problems in the OR.
- Responsible for synchronizing of OR item file data between PMM, SPM and CERNER.
