Obstetrics Gynecology Sonographer - Temporary

About the role

This is a temporary part-time position. The days and hours could vary: M-F, 7am-3:30pm or Monday, Thursday, and Friday 7am-3:30pm. Weekly earned wage access is an option for this position. 

Job Purpose or Objective(s): The Obstetrics/Gynecology Sonographer provides safe and effective ultrasound services with specific attention to the specialized procedures unique to gynecological and obstetrical medicine. You will provide expertise in prenatal diagnosis and OB ultrasound with the ability to recognize normal and pathological conditions applying additional modalities as indicated. You will report to the Unit Manager. 

 

Primary Tasks:

  1. Perform gynecological and obstetrical ultrasounds abdominally and transvaginal. 

  2. Carry out perinatal obstetric (OB) examinations; identify normal and pathological conditions and apply advanced modalities such as doppler, 3D, 4D. 

  3. Complete fetal examinations including first trimester ultrasound, nuchal translucency measurement, second trimester detailed anatomic survey, third trimester ultrasounds, advanced imaging techniques, and biophysical profile. 

  4. Identify patient service requirements and their ability to tolerate exams, ensure the correct exam is performed on the correct patient, and establish rapport with patients and family members. 

  5. Prepare patient and area for procedure by positioning patient, adjusting immobilization devices, moving equipment into specified position, and adjusting equipment controls to set exposure factors. 

  6. Protect patients and staff by adhering to safety requirements, infection control, drug and radiation policies, protocols, and techniques; use proper sterile techniques when setting up and performing invasive multimodality procedures. 

  7. Ensure individuals are safe to enter the department by completing screening processes following approved policies and procedures. 

  8. Obtain, verify, and maintain all relevant documentation including requisition/chart, patient history, pregnancy status and shielding precautions taken, consent form, policies, and procedures. 

  9. Maintain medical imaging records in various systems following department policies and standards. 

  10. Perform other responsibilities as may be assigned.


 

Required Education and Experience: 

  • Associate degree or equivalent education and experience 
  • Completion of approved sonography program 
  • Completion of SPI exam within eighteen [18] months of employment 
  • BLS certification Certified by American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) within two [2] years of employment
