Sr Prototype Technologist, Machine Shop

As part of our R&D Engineering team, you will work closely with our Quality and Manufacturing teams to develop the latest tools and technologies to address significant, unmet clinical needs that impact patients’ lives around the world.
As a Sr Technologist, Prototype in the Model Shop you will be applying skill and dexterity in the development of engineering prototypes, in support of improving products and processes, and new product development.
You will make an impact by...
• Programming, set up and operate a wide range of complex machines – which may include water jet, CNC Mill 3-5 Axis, CNC Lathe, Swiss Type CNC lathe, Wire and Sinker EDM as well as manual machining equipment to create prototype parts, tooling, and/or devices
• Collaborating with Engineering to identify, escalate, and/or clarify potential design issues
• Providing training and guidance to advance the competence of Technicians
• Other incidental duties: General work area housekeeping, keep current with EH&S requirements for machine operations
What you'll need:
H.S. Diploma or equivalent, 10 Years experience in machine shop environment
Associate's Degree or equivalent in Machining or trade school medical device industry preferred, with experience and exposure to the operation of virtually all relevant machinery preferred
What else we look for:
• Substantial knowledge and ability to program CNC machinery using modern CAM systems such as SolidCAM, MasterCAM or Esprit.
• Fabrication ability on a wide variety of materials and processes
• Knowledge of material compatibility with medical device regulatory requirements
• Ability to understand technical drawing including interpretation of GD&T callouts
• Good communication skills, able to read, write, and speak English
• Adhere to Edwards Environmental Health and Safety guidelines as they relate to machine operation and manufacturing facilities
• Must be able to work with minimum supervision and self-inspect work produced
• Work in a Team environment, including inter-departmental teams
• Adhere to all company rules and requirements (e.g., pandemic protocols, Environmental Health & Safety rules) and take adequate control measures in preventing injuries to themselves and others as well as to the protection of environment and prevention of pollution under their span of influence/control

For California, the base pay range for this position is $80,000 to $109,000 (highly experienced).
The pay for the successful candidate will depend on various factors (e.g., qualifications, education, prior experience).
