About the role
Job Description
- Analyzes complex business problems to be solved with automated systems.
- Provides technical expertise in identifying, evaluating, and developing systems and procedures that are cost effective and meet user requirements.
- Configures system settings and options; plans and executes unit, integration and acceptance testing; and creates specifications for systems to meet business requirements. Designs details of automated systems.
- May provide consultation to users in the area of automated systems.
- May lead cross-functional linked teams to address business or systems issues
- Requires specialized comprehensive knowledge in commercial vehicle diagnostics and SAE standard CAN communication protocols, with depth and/or breadth of expertise.
- Solves complex issues and problems; takes a broad perspective to identify solutions and using applicable functional knowledge and existing methodologies.
- Exercises judgment in selecting best methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
- Interprets internal or external business issues and recommends solutions/best practices.
- Ability to execute highly complex or specialized projects; adapts precedent and may make significant departures from traditional approaches to develop solutions.
- Is recognized as an expert in own area within own discipline/function within the organization.
- Networks with key contacts outside own area of expertise.
- Serves as a resource for best practices/quality on functional teams or projects.
- Works independently, with guidance in only the most complex situations.
- Trains, guides and mentors other professionals or colleagues with less experience.
- Determines methods and procedures on new assignments and may coordinate activities of other personnel, lead functional teams or projects, and serve as a best practice/quality resource.
Primary Skills:
- Expertise in System Engineering for Truck or Automotive ECUs
- Requirement capturing from various stakeholders
- System architecture
- System/Software requirements
- CAN/J1939 expertise
- Testing
Secondary Skills:
- Excellent Analytical skills: Able to contextualize and evaluate impacts of reported bugs, deficiencies, new feature requests and to define solutions & approaches to 1) respond effectively to customer needs and
- Driving product improvement
- Communication skills (verbal & written): Clear, concise, articulate, adapts to audience. Good listener. Attention to detail in documentation
- Deep experience performing SW development best practices. i.e. Agile/SCRUM, sprint planning, issue tracking & prioritization, defining & presenting solutions.
