About the Role
POLYWOOD® is looking for a hands-on Senior Cost Accountant who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. In this highly visible role, you’ll lead the charge in driving cost transparency, developing robust plant reporting systems, and influencing business decisions with data. You’ll play a critical role in implementing and managing a comprehensive standard costing system, while also supporting plant operations and corporate leadership with clear, actionable financial insights.
If you're someone who enjoys solving operational puzzles, building dashboards, and partnering across teams to elevate performance—this is the opportunity for you.
Who You Are:
You’re a curious, analytical thinker who thrives on turning data into actionable insights. You have a deep understanding of ecommerce and marketing performance metrics - and you know how to connect the dots between numbers and business decisions. You’re equally comfortable digging into SQL, collaborating with cross-functional teams, or presenting findings to leadership.
You don’t just report what happened, you ask why, suggest what’s next, and help others see the path forward. Whether you’re optimizing a campaign, troubleshooting a data set, or building a dashboard from scratch, you bring clarity, focus, and impact to everything you do.
What You’ll Do:
Lead Standard Costing Systems
• Design and implement standard costing across materials, labor, and overhead
• Conduct BOM reviews, validate routings, and establish allocation models
• Reconcile variances between standard and actual costs including usage, efficiency, and absorption
• Partner with supply chain, engineering, and production to maintain accurate cost drivers
Own Plant-Level Financial Reporting
• Manage metric reporting, budgeting, and monthly variance analysis
• Deliver clear financial commentary and forecasts to plant and corporate leadership
• Oversee inventory valuation, cycle counts, and physical inventory processes
• Support capital expenditure tracking and return on investment analysis
Drive Operational Insight
• Develop KPIs for throughput, OEE, downtime, scrap, and cost per unit
• Build dashboards and scorecards that promote visibility and accountability
• Provide insights that drive continuous improvement and cost reductions
Ensure Controls and Compliance
• Maintain internal controls around inventory, labor, and spending
• Support compliance with GAAP, internal audits, and reporting requirements
• Document financial workflows to ensure consistency and scalability
Collaborate Across the Business
• Serve as a financial partner to the Plant Manager and other operations leaders
• Coordinate with IT, Engineering, and HR to ensure system alignment and data integrity
• Assist with ERP optimization and automated reporting initiatives
What You Bring:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business
• CPA or CMA certification preferred
• Minimum of 7 to 10 years of manufacturing finance experience with a strong focus on cost accounting
• Demonstrated success in implementing and managing standard costing in a plant setting
• Strong knowledge of cost drivers, inventory flow, and production finance
• Proficiency with Excel and ERP systems such as Acumatica, SAP, Oracle, or similar
• Experience with business intelligence tools like Power BI or Tabl
