The main objectives of the Markets Trading Desk Quant in the Global Markets Division of the Americas (GMDA) is to support the IRD / swaps trading desk and the xVA (FVA/ CVA) desk. This role will require a quantitative skill set as well as business analysis skills and knowledge of derivatives (Interest Rate Swaps). You will have the opportunity to learn and work closely with Sales, Traders, and various teams in capital markets within a front office environment. The candidate must take the initiative to drive results and support our business.
Major Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities:
Leveraging programming (i.e. Python) abilities to extract useful information from imperfect data, Executing statistical analysis with that data. Present statistical and nonstatistical results, using charts, bullets, and graphs, in meetings.
Expanding pricing tools and improving evaluation models by utilizing quantitative analysis tools and skills such as VBA programming, data mining software, and Object or component-oriented development software to support the swaps trading desk environment.
Validating the bank's Credit Valuation Adjustment (CVA) and Funding Valuation adjustment (FVA) pricing models and the desk risk produced by those models.
Support the development of the trading platform for the trading team, working directly with derivatives traders, and liaising with internal technology teams.
Utilizing strong analytical abilities, risk methodology knowledge, and finance and banking knowledge in the development of the trading platform.
Gathering, validating, cleaning, and organizing historical data for the Bank’s trading portfolios.
Applying business logic to a complex data environment, including each derivative products’ definition on the cash flow level based on linking information from different data sources.
Documenting systems and workflows for the Bank’s derivatives business lines.
Other (Project) Responsibilities
Ability to take ownership and lead several projects or initiatives simultaneously.
Assist with gathering business requirements, testing support and representing Global Market’s position on projects.
Assisting with the integration of trading platforms at each MUFG group level and providing technical support to the trading team in the use of the platform.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
A Mathematics related degree required.
A minimum of 2+ years of related experience
Object or component oriented development software — examples C++ Hot technology; Python Hot technology; R Hot technology
Knowledge of liner algebra, partial differential equations, stochastic calculus, finite difference method, Monte Carlo Simulation
Knowledge of derivative products (Interest Rate Swaps, FX Forward, etc).
Strong knowledge of MS Office – Excel.
Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work independently, as well as in a team setting.
Strong organizational, analytical and communication skills.
Ability to build strong relationships with various groups in NY and Tokyo.
Additional Preferred Qualifications
VBA programming skills
Knowledge of SAS Hot technology –or- StataCorp Stata –or- The MathWorks MATLAB Hot technology –or- XLISP-STAT
Prior experience working in a Markets / Trading environment.
