Position Summary:

Senior Area Business Manager is responsible for all aspects of managing assigned sales territory, including launching and selling products, meeting individual territory goals, and addressing customer needs. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Effectively impacts customers by providing exceptional value and service, utilizing approved marketing and corporate resources, which ultimately helps providers to identify and start appropriate patients on therapy.
  • Deliver results and exceed goals; with exceptional territory business planning and execution.

  • Utilizes knowledge, critical thinking, and dialogue skills to deliver meaningful customer experiences that result in satisfaction, equity, and loyalty.
  • Develops strong relationships and facilitates mutual respect with HCP customers including key opinion leaders’ (KOLs’) within the territory, as well as other relevant stakeholders.
  • Promptly identifies and investigates customer concerns and communicates with appropriate staff to solve problems in a timely manner.
  • Analyzes sales potential and then objectively executes in the territory to ensure appropriate calls, reach, frequency, business meals, speaker programs, etc. to achieve consistently strong business results.  Works within given budgets and policy guidelines, while keeping an analytical eye on ROI.
  • Strong collaboration and communication with sales management and region/area teammates, as well as cross-functional teammates (i.e. patient access managers, market access, patient advocacy liaison, sales operations, sales training, marketing, etc.) as business needs dictate.
  • Attends local and national patient/caregiver advocacy and support events (many times requiring work on weekends), as well as attending relevant conferences, and other trainings.
  • Develop deep neuroscience and Acadia product knowledge, and an understanding of local and regional market trends.
  • Consistently operates with a positive, solution oriented, collaborative attitude, with comfort in navigating ambiguity.
  • Provides appropriate guidance around pricing and reimbursement for promoted products to customers, and acts as liaison between customers and the appropriate cross-functional teams when specific reimbursement questions arise.
  • Remains compliant with all regulations in the course of carrying out responsibilities.
  • Consistently carries out responsibilities with proficiency, professionalism and accountability.
  • Takes on leadership opportunities as appropriate and aggressively pursues personal development.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience/Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, with a strong preference for life sciences.
  • To qualify for Area Business Manager requires at least 3 years of pharmaceutical sales experience, with at least 1 years in specialty sales (emphasis in rare diseases).
  • To qualify for Sr. Area Business Manager requires 8 years of pharmaceutical sales experience, including 5 years in specialty sales (emphasis in rare diseases).
  • Preferred experience in specialty sales which would include rare diseases, CNS/neurology, or pediatric neurology, and familiarity with specialty distribution and access.
  • Advanced selling and dialogue skills, with the ability to build lasting relationships with KOLs, Centers Of Excellence, and multidisciplinary care team.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally to create and execute actionable business plans that ensure patient access to therapy.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a self-motivated, proactive attitude.
