Reports to: Executive Director

Location: Central Alabama

WHAT YOU’LL DO

The Director of Alumni Impact plays a critical role in catalyzing our alumni towards collective action and building a thriving alumni community in Alabama. You will combine your deep understanding of our alumni network with your analysis of the local landscape to support our alumni on their path to expanding educational opportunities for Alabama’s children. In this role, you will cultivate and support our rising alumni as they transition to our alumni network and make progress toward their personal theories of change. You will also build a thriving TFA alumni community by cultivating connections and belonging through direct support of our local alumni boards and affinity groups. You will support alumni development and learning by  curating intentional small  group experiences as well as researching and finding meaningful and aligned professional development opportunities for the broader alumni community to access. This position provides a unique opportunity for someone with exemplary leadership and relationship building skills to connect, organize, and empower our alumni to maximize their impact towards our strategic vision and direction. Your work will support alumni in engaging in roles and work that will move Alabama to our 2030 goal.

WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

Primary responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

Cultivate and Support Rising Alumni (30%)

  • Support second year corps members to identify their strengths and career goals, and connect them with opportunities and strategic people in Alabama by hosting one-on-one meetings and group experiences
  • Partner with the Program Hub team to track data related to second year corps retention, share data with community partners, and collaborate to retain rising alumni
  • Organize, plan, manage and execute 2CM-to-alumnihood programming, including Alumni Induction 

Cultivate and Connect Corps Member and Alumni Communities (30%)

  • Empower and support a diverse alumni board to execute alumni strategies that build culture and develop leaders aligned to our regional priorities 
  • Invest in and empower alumni leaders to drive learning and community by supporting the formation and continued development of alumni-led affinity groups, such as Prism and the Collective
  • Invest in and empower alumni leaders to innovate towards equitable impact in our schools & communities by supporting the formation and continued development of alumni-led groups, networking opportunities, and professional development
  • Attending key events to source candidates, such as local hiring and opportunity fairs, School Leaders of Color Conference, etc.
  • Explore and bring-to-fruition emerging connections for talent matching beyond the field of K-12 education, such as the private sector and social venture sector. 
  • Designing the vision and execution of Alabama’s Talent Hub – the process by which we find, cultivate and match alumni to open roles related to educational excellence in Alabama – implementing a new model that meets talents needs, matches great talent to their next roles about which they’re passionate, and creating new earned revenue streams that contribute to the sustainability of the organization overall
  • TFA Connect: Managing job board aspects of TFA Connect, including archiving out-of-date or no longer open roles

Alumni Engagement & Small Group Experiences (30%)

  • Use quantitative and qualitative data to understand specific areas of needed alumni skill-building and support, which could include but is not limited to: relevant book clubs, role-readiness coaching, and coaching for alumni teachers.
  • Support our alumni base by engaging in alumni coaching conversations to match alumni to each other and to opportunities in Alabama and to gain insight on the small group experiences that are needed
  • Develop strong external partnerships with experts and organizations to create and lead intentional small group or cohort experiences whose work with alumni is mutually beneficial for our organizations 
  • Research local and national professional development opportunities that are in line with our strategic plans and our alumni needs 
  • Execute and/or support statewide programming alongside MD, Partnerships & Impact, MD, Leadership Development, and D, School Capacity Building (i.e., LEE, Opportunity Summit, Alumni Summits)
  • Manage and keep up to date data on our alumni - their current roles, future aspirations, interests, and contact information.
  • Running marketing campaigns for the Talent Hub that intersect with our website, our social media, targeted email outrea
