The Youth Shelter has a 24/7 rotating schedule. This position is primarily 6:00AM-2:00PM with a flexible schedule.
POSITION SUMMARY: Will oversee all aspects of food preparation to ensure residents are served healthy, nutritional and diverse meals and snacks. Will provide confidential direct care and supervision of youth ages 0-18 who are abused, neglected and deprived, includes paraprofessional guidance, intervention in behaviors, documentation of day-to-day behaviors, events and activities. Will maintain a professional child friendly presence.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists Program director with menu planning and grocery list.
- Ensures food preparation is within health, safety, and sanitation guidelines.
- Develops and maintains charting for safe food storage and disposal.
- Cleans dining areas, food preparation area, cooking surfaces and utensils.
- Provides instruction to residents by directing their day-to-day activities.
- Helps residents develop and achieve personal goals and life skills.
- Inspects living quarters to ensure health and safety standards.
- Participates with residents in cultural events and other community activities.
- Observes, records and reports health symptoms, behaviors and activities of residents.
- Transports residents to and from medical appointments and school activities.
- Other duties as assigned by Program Director.
REPORTS TO: Will report directly to the Program Director and will not have supervisory responsibilities.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS REQUIRED:
- Must be able to participate with residents in all activities (i.e., walk long distances, stand for long periods, lift, stoop, bend, crawl, squat, or physically exert him/herself in any other way regularly.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Confidential work environment, inside shelter and shelter grounds.
- Will travel with residents to and from school, appointments, events and other activities
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or GED, and the completion of thirty hours from an accredited college or university; or possess a minimum of one year of experience working with children. Must have prior experience as a cook, be skilled in operating kitchen equipment, and have knowledge of menu planning.
- Must be able to successfully complete all training requirements for sole supervision of residents including but not limited to first aid certification, CPR, and managing aggressive behaviors.
- Must maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Valid Oklahoma Driver's License and insurable under the Comanche Nation's Motor Vehicle Policy.
- Must pass State & Federal background investigation.
- Must submit and pass all Drug Testing.
- Must be able to perform any job-related travel.
- Must be able to work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays.
