Join Our Team as a Public Utilities Animation & Graphic Design Specialist!

Bring your creativity to life while helping Sarasota County Public Utilities educate and engage our community. You’ll design eye-catching graphics and produce dynamic animations that tell the story of our initiatives—from water conservation to our FOG (Fats, Oils & Grease) campaign.

Work closely with the Communications & Outreach supervisor to create everything from animated videos and social media graphics to flyers, signage, and digital ads. If you’re passionate about using design and animation to make a difference, we want to see your talent shine!

About the Position

• Create animated videos and various other animated content
• Produce graphic design collateral for all Public Utilities campaigns and internal collateral needs
• Brainstorm visual ideas for animation and graphic design content
• Work internally with Sarasota County’s print shop and external vendors to print materials, as needed
• Work within Sarasota County’s Communications Department to collaborate with other designers and adhere to Sarasota County’s brand standards and guidelines
• Work with the Public Utilities Communications and Outreach Supervisor to brainstorm and develop initiatives such as social media campaigns, public outreach initiatives and internal communications
• Work with Sarasota County’s Public Utilities team to gain a preliminary understanding of the public utilities department

Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

About You

Minimum Qualifications:

• An Associate degree from an accredited college or university in one of the following:
• Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Media Relations and/or Mass Communications
• -OR- Significant related experience in Communications or related field
• A valid Florida Drivers license at the time of hire

Preferred Qualifications:

• Ability to create animated video, animated designs, graphic design content such as flyers, signage, brochures, booklets and other print collateral as well as digital designs such as logos, advertisements and web graphics
• Knowledge of AP Style, ability to use Microsoft Office and Microsoft Outlook/Teams, Adobe Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Premier) skills, animation editing software skills, writing and editing skills

About Everything Else

Starting Pay Range: $25.70 - $27.00/hour, based on experience
