Collins Aerospace in Fairfield, CA, is looking for a dynamic and adaptable individual to join our team as a Materials Associate I. In this role, you will ensure the safe and proper packaging of both energetic and inert products for our global customers. You'll thrive in our fast-paced environment, expertly wrapping, bagging, and labeling products to meet precise packaging standards. At our facility, we specialize in the manufacturing and testing of explosive, propellant, and cartridge-actuated devices. As an employee at Collins Aerospace-Fairfield, Safety is an expectation.  Employees are expected to work safely, follow all safety rules, requirements, procedures, and instructions always.  You are expected to actively participate in the safety program and be mindful of your safety and the safety of others.  You are expected to complete all safety training in a timely manner.

Schedule:

  • Monday-Friday, 7:00 am-3:30 pm

  • Overtime available and/or mandatory on a business need basis

What You Will Do

  • Receive finished products from the manufacturing floor or inventory.

  • Follow written procedures for wrapping and bagging the product in appropriate materials as specified in the procedure, MIL-B-117, MIL-STD-2073, contract or SPI as applicable.

  • Produce appropriate identification, bar code, and DODIC/Lot labels on thermal printer in accordance with MIL-STD-129 for military contracts and ASTM-D-3951 for commercial shipments.

  • Accurately place label on bagged item.

  • Prepare the unit or intermediate pack by constructing fiberboard or wood boxes, paint cans, etc.            

  • Place bagged items into unit or intermediate packs, (boxes, cans, bags) as specified in packaging instructions. Cushion with appropriate materials to prevent movement of the product within the pack. Seal the unit or intermediate pack per appropriate instructions and standards.

  • Coordinate with the group leader and the shipping department on appropriate size/type shipping container.

  • Load parts into the shipping container.

  • Required to drive a forklift and operate a pallet jack.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a HS Diploma (or equivalent, e.g. GED in the US) or  vocational/technical education in related discipline.

  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) access.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Strong computer skills

  • Attention to detail, strong sense of organization.

  • BarTender labeling software experience or equivalent labeling software

  • Experience in SAP
