Duties

Function as a technical specialist or in a lead role, specializing in water and wastewater treatment plants. With minimal supervision, apply advanced engineering techniques and analyses for problems and methods. Expand knowledge and skill set in area of discipline. Expand knowledge in other disciplines and/or functional areas. Continue to learn, remain current and apply independent knowledge and interpretation about departmental design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes and Black & Veatch policies and procedures relative to assigned tasks. Prepare a variety of complex engineering deliverables. Perform complex research and develop recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection. Prepare complex engineering calculations following standard methods and principles. Manage assigned budget, schedule, and quality requirements. Plan and conduct independent evaluation, selection and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria. Review lower-level engineering work or assignments. Oversee collection, assimilation, and management of data for engineering work. Lead smaller production teams. Serve as the responsible charge for a project. Actively coordinate with all other internal/external team members on moderately complex projects. Assist with the identification of key client interests and drivers on less complex projects. Communicate client interests and drivers to project team members and develop approaches to accommodate these concerns in the performance of the work on less complex projects. Provide support to business development or pursuit activities. Recognized as a technical specialist by the division having in-depth knowledge of an engineering process and/or of technical aspects of an industry. Design a complete project of moderately complex scope within an assigned practice area(s). Assist with performance management process, mentoring, recognition, and any corrective actions required. Requirements

Master’s Degree in Environmental Engineering or related and three years of related experience. In the alternative, the employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering or related and five years of related experience. Must have experience with the following programs: MicroStation, AutoCAD, BlueBeam Revu, and GIS. Must have experience utilizing Microsoft Excel to perform calculations, graphs, data analysis, and budget analysis related to water and wastewater treatment facility projects.  Must have experience with the Microsoft Suite of software. Must have experience in the application of advanced engineering techniques and analyses. Must have experience performing designs for the civil, and process components of a water and wastewater treatment facility, focusing on layouts, processes, and challenges. Must have experience writing and producing technical reports, specifications, engineering drawings, estimates and construction schedules. Must have experience working with third party vendors to obtain product specifications and quotations and analyze their suitability for components of the treatment process. Must have experience in delegating and reviewing lower-level engineering work or assignments. Telecommuting is permitted within standard commuting distance from the employer’s Burlington, Massachusetts office location.  Local travel may be required up to 10% of the time. Must have good written and verbal communications skills in English.
