Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Lead the strategic development and implementation of sustainability pathway initiatives, ensuring alignment with institutional mission, long-term goals, and academic standards.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the college and community partners, industry leaders, and funding agencies to foster program growth, resource integration, and strategic partnerships.
  • Oversee the allocation and monitoring of program budgets, including procurement and inventory management for farm and facility resources.
  • Manage grant-funded initiatives, including fiscal oversight, regulatory compliance, and reporting to ensure all project deliverables and evaluation processes are met.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for program operations and safety protocols.
  • Cultivate academic pathways in partnership with DOE Early College Coordinators and four-year programs to ensure seamless transitions from secondary education and non-credit programs to KCC, internships, and baccalaureate attainment.
  • Facilitate cross-departmental coordination with the agriculture, Hawaiian Studies, Culinary, and OCET programs to align curricula and integrate program pathways.
  • Provide operational oversight for the designated land areas, including strategic crop planning, distribution logistics, facility maintenance, and the mentorship of student interns.
  • Conduct comprehensive analysis of student success metrics and program effectiveness; prepare detailed reports for stakeholders, accrediting bodies, and funding agencies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or directed.

Minimum Qualifications 

Education & Professional Work Experience

Possession of a baccalaureate degree in arts and sciences or related field and 3 year(s) of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for sustainability, agriculture, natural resources, pathway coordination, or a related field; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Considerable working knowledge of principles, practices and techniques in the area of  pathways from high school to community college as demonstrated by the broad knowledge of the full range of pertinent standard and evolving concepts, principles and methodologies.
  • Considerable working knowledge and understanding of applicable federal and state laws, rules, regulations and theories and systems associated with community colleges.
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve wide ranging complex problems through the use of creative reasoning and logic to accurately determine the cause of the problems and the resolution of the problems in an effective, innovative and timely manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing, verbally and by preparation of reports and other materials.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team leaders and members, and individuals.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply word processing software.
  • If applicable, for supervisory work, demonstrated ability to lead subordinates, manage work priorities and projects, and manage employee relations.
