About the role

Responsibilities

Peraton is looking for a self-driven person to join our CDC’s Center for Forecasting & Outbreak Analytics (CFA) team. This qualified Security Analyst will support our CFA contract. The functions of CFA are (1) Predict: Generating forecasts and analyses to support outbreak preparedness and response efforts, (2) Inform: Share timely, actionable information with the Federal government; STLT leaders, and the public, and (3) Innovate: Support research and development to improve outbreak forecasts and analyses. The Information Assurance & Security Analyst will work as part of a dynamic multi-disciplinary team, that provides Informatics Services support for the CDC/CFA customer.

 

What you will do:

  • Ensure systems, computer applications, IT components, and processes adhere to all applicable, federal IT security policies, regulation, standards, and procedures.
  • Recommend creative technical solutions to emerging security threats while satisfying evolving legislative security regulations, policies, standards, and mandates.
  • Identify, monitor, and mitigate system security vulnerabilities, developing, and executing plans of actions and measures (POAMs), and supporting security assessments and accreditation (SA&A) activities.
  • Collect, analyze, compile, classify, and document IT systems security data.
  • Review, analyze, and recommend improvements to system design/architecture plans.
  • Test applications/systems vulnerabilities and identify potential threats; Execute, evaluate, and verify security scans.
  • Assist technical support teams/technicians with remediation of system vulnerabilities.
  • Assist IT security personnel with gathering and recording data/information needed to complete required security documentation and/or ad-hoc reports requested by the Informatics Office
  • Execute security assessments and accreditation (SA&A) support activities.
  • Develop, track, and execute plans of actions and measures (POAMs)
  • Provide hands on support with developing secure source code and implementing secure SDLC processes for custom application development and projects utilizing a variety of platforms and technologies e.g., government cloud-based platforms, SaaS, MS Dynamics, .Net and Java.
  • Implement secure SDLC processes custom software development projects utilizing a wide variety of platforms, technologies, and computer languages.
  • Perform technical IT system security/vulnerability assessments using provided tools, interpret results, and provide required technical remediation i.e., identify, verify, and remediate false positive test results.
  • Develop and periodically update a security-oriented software development tool inventory (including detailed tool configuration instructions and change management documentation).
  • Collect and develop SOP requirements for standing-up and maintaining secure-code libraries and repositories.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • 2 years with BS/BA; 0 years with MS/MA; 6 years with no degree
  • Experience with Archer, Atlassian, and ServiceNow
  • Experience in working with the ISSO (Information System Security Officer)
  • Demonstrable experience in preventing network attacks, buffer overflow, and traffic overflow
  • Demonstrable experience in conducting regular reviews of systems, mitigates security threats
  • Previous CDC experience
  • Must be a US Citizen or a Green Card Holder
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the required agency clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of NIST 800-53 security controls and Risk Management Framework process
  • Working knowledge of configuring, running, and reviewing scans with Micro Focus Fortify and Web Inspect tools.
  • Working knowledge conducting system reviews Working knowledge of vulnerability and patch management processes and procedures
  • Working knowledge of Linux or Windows system administration, Azure Cloud environment.
  • A current CompTIA+ or similar certification
