POSITION SUMMARY:

The plant electrical and automation (E&A) engineer is a key technical expert in our highly automated food manufacturing facility.  You will have a high degree of autonomy and be relied upon to provide informal leadership to contractors, production, maintenance, technicians, and project teams.  As a system owner/expert for automation, process control, MES, Factory Automation Systems (FAS), Wonderware System Platform/Aveva, digitalization (DMO), and electrical distribution, you will be influential in creating a strategic vision for the future.  In addition to the fast paced and rewarding day to day work experience, you will be eligible to receive Nestle’s fantastic benefits package (competitive salary, quarterly bonus, PTO, paid holidays, 401k with company match, medical, dental, vision, and more)!

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBLITIES:

Operations Support

  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting of existing electrical and automation systems (PLCs, VFDs, MCCs, sensors/instruments, valves/motors, Wonderware System Platform/Aveva, VMs and thin clients, Manufacturing Execution System/MES, Digital Manufacturing Operations (DMO), Vigilistics/CIP software, Wonderware Historian, industrial Ethernet networks, control panels, circuit breakers, etc.)
  • Complete incident investigations for downtime and quality deviations to determine root cause and propose or implement corrective and preventive actions
  • Actively engage in Nestle Continuous Excellence and TPM initiatives
  • Provide coaching/training to mechanics and operators on the shop floor
  • Provide Support and troubleshooting for Manufacturing Execution System (MES) including communication to SAP as well as PLC interface code

 

System Maintenance

  • Ensure existing electrical and automation systems are properly maintained
  • Analyze the current E&A systems and install base to ensure continued maintainability and support; develop roadmap or masterplan where necessary
  • Coordinate regular system patching of FAS with IT and system users
  • Maintain compliance to corporate standards regarding hardware, software, and security

 

Project Management & Execution:

  • Conduct estimation, and execution of medium to large scale electrical/automation/MES projects
  • Develop and implement project descriptions, plans, timelines, resource requirements, costs, etc.
  • Interface with vendors, develop bid specifications, participate in design reviews, and factory acceptance testing
  • Oversee installations and verify compliance with NFPA, OSHA, FDA, and Nestle standards.
  • Responsibility for E&A/MES/Wonderware/FAS/DMO portion of projects

 

Strategy & Mentorship:

  • Share expertise and provide training to build the competencies of fellow E&A team members
  • Develop E&A team strategy including areas of MES/Wonderware/FAS/DMO (prioritization, planning, roadmaps, etc.)

 

REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL:

Required:

  • Associate’s Degree that relates to controls, automation, electrical power, computer science, and/or electro mechanical fields and 3+ years of related experience
  • Ability to work flexible hours (as required for projects & on-call support, but majority is M-F first shift)
  • Minimal travel (typically 0-5% for personal development training and project related site/vendor visits)

Preferred:  Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or related field
