The RFP (Request for Proposal) team is responsible for compiling responses to complex bid and proposal documents for prospective and existing Northern Trust Asset Servicing clients as part of a procurement, rebid or due diligence process. The RFP team works alongside the sales and relationship management teams to formulate compelling responses in order to win and retain business.

We are seeking a senior writer whose primary responsibility will be new business questionnaires from prospective clients. These prospects will include retirement plans, corporate clients, not-for-profits, insurance companies and investment managers across a spectrum of fund types.


They will also manage (or lead) projects as defined by their managers for the benefit of the wider team. Additionally, they will also work closely with our Asset Servicing RFP Database group to create, maintain, improve and enhance our RFP content, often receiving a number of categories of content to work with product to ensure they are developed, enhanced and maintained as truly value add content.

The services covered will include, but not be limited to, global custody; investment accounting; fund accounting; transfer agency; middle office outsourcing; risk and compliance; performance measurement and analytics; cash management; securities lending and transition management.

Excellent written English skills are essential, as is an ability to manage projects within a deadline-driven environment.

Product knowledge of global custody, fund administration or other asset servicing products would be a benefit.

Based in the Asset Servicing business unit, this role will provide an opportunity to interface with experts across Asset Servicing product teams.

Major Duties:

Response Preparation

  • Managing the response process from kick-off meeting to sending of final response documents, ensuring milestones and deadlines are met

  • Ability to run major RFP projects individually with appropriate supervision

  • Using the RFP database and other resources to research and prepare responses

  • Tailoring standard responses for individual clients

  • Working with subject-matter-experts, sales and relationship teams to source information and collaborate on putting forth strong responses

  • Working on multiple assignments of varying complexity simultaneously

           

RFP database – Working in conjunction with our Database Admin team

  • Ensuring new and updated information is added to the RFP database

  • Liaising with other business areas to maintain the factual content of the RFP database

  • Researching opportunities to create new RFP database files for a variety of products and services

  • Working with product teams to generate value add RFP messaging

  • Identify opportunities to enhance existing content by improving written quality and using visualization techniques

Skills / abilities

  • Excellent standard of written English and the ability to edit and tailor text to ensure accuracy, consistency and readability

  • Exceptionally organized, strong attention to detail

  • Ability to work in a deadline-driven environment, to multi-task and to manage conflicting priorities

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; technically savvy

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams)

  • A working knowledge of the broad asset servicing/global custody needs of corporate clients, investment managers and financial institutions

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Empathetic and easily able to establish rapport with others

Experience and Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • Two (2) to three (3) years of proposal writing and or financial industry work experience preferred

  • Experience with proposal writing software (Loopio) and Microsoft OneDrive a plus

Salary Range:

$74,200 - 126,200
