Engineering Manager - Media Apps

The Edge Apps Engineering Manager will support and nurture a team of some of our most talented engineers. The team builds products on top of the Fastly Platform, Compute & Fastly CDN; many of the products today are focused in the media, image and video processing space.

You will find yourself managing team dependencies, building roadmaps with your product partners, setting technical direction alongside your engineering leaders, and thinking big about our strategy. You will be partnering with engineering and product teams from all walks of life and disciplines, all the while cultivating an inclusive and cohesive team environment that enables your engineers to deliver the best software of their lives.

What You'll Do

• Manage a distributed engineering team and work closely with your team and engineering leaders.
• Ensure each member of the team has what they need to be successful
• Mentor and provide regular feedback to engineers
• Partner with Sr Engineering leaders to build and execute in both internal & open source contexts.
• Partner with product, management and engineering management to prioritize and plan projects
• Work in close partnership with engineering leaders to build out and execute on everything from project design to engineering best practices
• Recruit and hire software engineers
• Clearly communicate upward and outward to set expectations for roadmaps and deliverables 
• High level of organization with a proven ability to prioritize, manage, budget, and deliver on time
• Employ your excellent technical and non-technical presentation and communication skills to communicate roadmaps, project progress and design documentation.

Work Hours: This position will require you to be available during core business hours.

What We're Looking For

Basic Qualifications:

• 4+ years of engineering management experience
• Someone to form an egoless technical partnership with engineering leaders.
• Someone who can put the customer experience first, and has experience building products used by other engineers.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in the video streaming space.

Salary

The estimated salary range for this position is $181,220 to $226,520.

Starting salary may vary based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, skills, qualifications, and location.

This role may be eligible to participate in Fastly’s equity and discretionary bonus programs.
