Global Atlantic is seeking a candidate to enhance the derivative related reporting and analytics across our various insurance subsidiaries, which entails ensuring the accuracy of derivative results across various hedging strategies for GAAP, STAT and in our reinsurance sidecars, communication of derivative results/drivers with cross-functional teams and supporting the investment office in the execution of various hedging strategies. The candidate plays a key role in the simplification and automation of certain operational and reporting processes related to achieving an accelerated close that produces timely, accurate and complete investment accounting results in an efficient manner on a GAAP and STAT basis. All candidates must, in addition to possessing the specific qualifications cited below, work well within a complex, fast-paced, fluid environment, and strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Responsible for explanation of derivative financial statement results and reporting redesign for management/reinsurance views, 10Q/K derivative footnotes, and NAIC schedules.
- Partner with cross-functional teams and develop disclosure-related analytics and lifecycle commentary for derivatives notional, MTM, P&L, and cashflows.
- Lead derivative balance sheet, income statement, and cashflows presentations for review with finance leadership.
- Responsible for driving collaboration between FP&A, Middle office, Front office, and Reinsurance teams to enhance the transparency and understanding of derivatives impact to financial results.
- Collaborate with TPAs, middle office, front office, and technology teams regarding requirements for redesign of data ingested for accounting, reporting, and reconciliations ensuring the accuracy of the financial statement results as it relates to derivatives.
- Partner with SOX, front office, operational accounting to maintain a strong controls environment and further enhance controls in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404 and NAIC Model Audit Rule.
- Interaction and support for internal and external audit teams.
- Perform frequent ad hoc analysis and assist with special projects, as requested.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 7+ years of experience in Investment Accounting and/or Investment/Treasury Operations for derivatives with a foundational understanding of the upstream processes and impacts to downstream accounting and reporting
- Experience in insurance company Investment GAAP and Statutory reporting and/or Treasury accounting preferred
- Familiarity with investment accounting systems (Clearwater) preferred

- Strong focus on process improvement from system enhancements and conversion
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills
- Excellent computer skills, including MS Excel
- Commitment to lean principles while maintaining a strong Controls environment
- Pro-active, detail oriented, deadline driven; possess excellent documentation and analysis skills.
- Results oriented, flexible, self-motivated, and able to work in a team environment with limited direct supervision
- Proven ability to successfully handle competing priorities and multiple deliverables
