Group Exercise Instructor - Carilion Wellness Botetourt

How You’ll Help Transform Healthcare:

Work under the supervision of the Manager, Group Exercise. Responsible for organizing and presenting assigned group exercise classes. Instructs classes in accordance with guidelines established by the Manager, Group Exercise. Demonstrates a knowledge and understanding of the anatomy and physiology of the human body as it relates to exercise and safety precautions. Uses correct technique as related to exercise. Maintains a fitness level appropriate for effective instruction. Projects a friendly and positive attitude and conducts oneself in a professional manner.
 

• Completes group exercise training program and maintains knowledge of all standard Wellness Center guidelines.
• Teach safe, effective and motivational exercise classes using guidelines established by the Manager, Group Exercise.
• Adheres to all class schedules and policies.
• Attends all scheduled staff meetings and workshops and incorporates new materials into individual classes.
• Assures facility cleanliness by stacking and/or cleaning equipment after use.
• Maintains a satisfactory score on performance and fitness evaluations.
• Motivate members to keep exercising and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

What We Require:

Education: Basic knowledge of health and fitness is required.

Experience: No experience required.

Licensure, certification, and/or registration: AHA BLS-HCP certification preferred. Must possess a Carilion Wellness approved group exercise certification prior to hire (e.g. Les Mills, Zumba, Barre Above, or a NCCA-accredited or NBFE approved organization).

Other Minimum Qualifications: Being able to get up in front of a group and instruct exercises in a confident manner.
