Job Description Summary
Job Summary/ Purpose: Job Summary/ Purpose: One-year fellowship focuses on clinical experiences as well as a robust didactic curriculum, to provide well-rounded education intended to fully prepare an APP for a full time position in specialty areas. Primary fellowship role is dependent on specialty area but will include opportunities to learn in various settings and work towards procedural and clinically relevant competencies. APP fellow may be required to attend academic sessions and/or complete presentations/lectures/QI projects as determined by APP Fellowship Program.The Dermatology APP Fellow will receive 1 year of training in Charleston, SC where they will train in clinic alongside physician learners such as residents and fellows in learning a comprehensive approach to patient care. This includes specialized training in therapeutic procedures such as biopsies, advanced injections and cryotherapy.
APPs who have completed all fellowship requirements, will be transitioned to a full-time position in dermatology in Lancaster, SC. Two-year post fellowship commitment is required.

Fair Labor Standards Act Status: Salaried with a housing stipend for training in Charleston, SC
Hours per week: 40 hours per week with additional didactic requirements
Scheduled Work Hours/Shift: Monday – Friday

Preferred Training and Experience
Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program and currently licensed or eligible for licensure as a Physician Assistant or completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program and currently licensed or eligible for licensure as an APRN as noted below.

Required Experience: None. APP Fellowship is geared for new graduates and for APPs wanting to change practice specialties
Degree of Supervision
Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant will be assigned a Primary Supervising/Collaborating Physician employed by MUSC and will report directly to this physician, APP Fellowship Director and/or APP Manager.
Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations
All certifications must be current and complete prior to start date:
Basic Life Support (BLS).
If applicable, DHEC and DEA license applications must be started prior to first day.
Job Duties (list job tasks)
Provides direct care to patients through the following activities:
Takes comprehensive history and performs physical examinations
Evaluates and treats on the basis of history, physical examination, radiological, laboratory, and other diagnostic test results pursuant to the practice agreement or scope of practice guideline
Performs therapeutic procedures in accordance with procedural privileges, skill and proficiency as approved by the Clinical Division Chief
