We are looking for individuals who are looking for casual work to join our team at the Consumer Innovation Center! This role would suit someone who is looking for additional work to fit around their existing work/personal commitments. This work would be on an ad-hoc basis, depending on project requirements. At least one weeks’ notice of each assignment would be provided.
HOURS: Hours will vary but typically tend to be: 10-15 hours a week
PAY: The starting hourly rate for this position is $15 per hour
The role:
The Facility Assistant is responsible for assisting in all aspects of the Consumer Innovation Center Facility operations, including running the Sensory Panels, Discrimination Panel and Consumer quantitative and qualitative projects.
Some of the responsibilities could be:
- Set-up rooms for sensory panel and consumer research training and testing
- Clear all working areas before and after use
- Ensure that all needed testing supplies are available
- Ensuring product are prepared and served following required protocol for the specific study. This includes ensuring consistency within and between relevant studies, e.g. product preparation protocols, container types, serving temperature
- Prepare, label and serve references material used to run the Sensory DA Panels in collaboration with CIC Panel Leader and Facility Technicians. Protocols will need to be followed and we need to ensure consistency between studies.
- Proper handling of test products
- Handle test product labelling using appropriate project design and codes
- Responsible for time keeping of test and samples serving
- Following specific protocols (including temperature control)
- Proper product and material disposal and recycling, following all applicable procedures
- Clean preparation areas before and after use
- Report all issues or maintenance needed to CIC Facility staff
Requirements
- Some experience in a kitchen environment or as a server/waiter/waitress would be beneficial
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to effectively communicate in written and spoken English is essential
- A flexible and easily adaptable nature
- Assist in administrative duties, as required, for example: scheduling, updating databases, panelists timesheets
- Program test questionnaires and troubleshoot issues on Compusense and other relevant software - training will be provided
- Tracking and logging all purchases
